Spring has sprung, and if you're currently not a Talking Simpson Network patron, you might look like a fool... An April Fool, if you will. Why's that? Well, we've got a ton of great Patreon-exclusive podcasts coming at you this month—and one of them is about a very special movie our listeners have wanted us to talk about since our network began!

And remember, if you'd like to listen to this month's episodes of TalKing of the Hill and Talking Futurama, you'll need to sign up at the $5 level or higher on the Talking Simpsons Patreon. Once you subscribe, you'll get to hear our miniseries episodes as soon as they go live, and also access our extensive back catalog of Patreon-exclusive podcasts—over 100 to date!

Here's what's on the schedule for April:

Saturday Morning All Star Hits! - "SCHOOL" [Patreon: 4/4/22 - Free Feed: 4/11/22]

We've regularly covered "live-action cartoons" on the first What A Cartoon episode of April, and while this show doesn't exactly fit that description, it's tailor-made for us and our listeners. In case you missed it, SMASH is the perfect send-up of early '90s children's entertainment, wrapped in a framing device about two lovable Bill-and-Ted-style hosts and the Hollywood machine that threatens to tear them apart. And as a special bonus, we also talk to executive producer Scott Gairdner in a special-hour long segment about the making of the show! Listen in to find out how he and his comedy pals made it so zuzzy zazz.

SMASH is currently available on Netflix.

Talking Futurama - "A Leela of Her Own'" [Patreon: 4/11/22]

Blernsball makes its long-awaited return in this sports-focused episode that explores Leela's hidden talent as a pitcher who can give other players serious concussions thanks to her lack of depth perception. The recently passed home run king Hank Aaron and Mr. Belvedere's own Bob Uecker guest star in this story all about role models and the dark side of bean sponsorship.

TalKing of the Hill - "Traffic Jam" [Patreon: 4/18/22]

Few things were hotter than Chris Rock in 1998—but hey, King of the Hill was pretty hot, too. So it only makes sense that the two joined forces 24 years ago for a very important episode about race and Hank's discomfort with his small ass. When a minor fender-bender lands Hank in a Def-Jam-style comedy traffic school, he's forced to endure the barbs of Booda Sack to prevent his monthly insurance payment from rising. Listen in for both "yo mama" jokes and important lessons about freedom of speech! [Editor's note: We recorded this weeks before The Oscars broadcast.]

An Extended Free Preview of What A Cartoon Movie for Who Framed Roger Rabbit [Patreon: 4/25/22 - Free Feed: 5/1/22]

Do we really need to describe Who Framed Roger Rabbit on here? Well if you were alive in 1988—like us—it likely sent you into the spiraling madness of cartoon worship that now governs every aspect of your life. This high-concept film noir comedy from Robert Zemeckis smashes together animated characters and live-action ones in a way that's been often imitated, but never duplicated. You'll want to check your PTO for April, because this podcast feels like it could very well be our longest one yet!

And remember: $5 patrons and folks on the free feed will hear an extended preview of the podcast, but if you want the whole thing (and access to all other episodes of What A Cartoon Movie) you'll have to bump your subscription up to the $10 level.

That's all for this month! Thanks again for supporting and listening; we couldn't do what we do without you!

I'm so excited for you guys to cover SMASH. It's so much fun.

SMASH should be fantastic. It's so packed with ideas though, I've no idea how you'll manage to cover it in your usual depth and add in an interview.

Frank Grimes

Maybe I should give smash another chance. Stopped watching around ep 3 or 4.

Blake R.

YES! I saw Henry talking up SMASH on Twitter when it came out and was secretly hoping there'd be a further discussion on it for WAC at some point. Should have pieced together it'd be a great candidate for the April pick.

I have nothing BUT contempt for this court

Yeah I was worried they would have a enough juice to sustain things for the 8 episode season but the show evolves and expands as it goes through the run, its a good watch worth going to to the end.

Kat Heagberg

This is one of those extra special WAC months where I'm equally excited about every single episode to come. I definitely need to re-watch SMASH before Monday!
