The summer is coming to an end, and we hope you had a good time with us over the last three months of podcasts, because we sure did. And as we reach Labor Day weekend, it's time to let all of you know the cool stuff we have planned for the coming month on What A Cartoon podcast, cuz it's a doozy. We've got the worst animated thing we've ever covered, a silly relic of a bygone sitcom age, and our first 2D Dreamworks film. And don't forget, $5 and up patrons will get to hear the Talking Futurama podcast about "Cyber House Rules" on the second Monday of this month!

If you're not yet a subscriber, signing up at the $5 level will get you each episode a week ahead of time and ad-free, along with our collection of exclusive miniseries (like the recent TalKing of the Hill Season 2 Part 1) which includes over 100 episodes, with even more coming at the end of October when we launch our Batman: The Animated Series miniseries!

Here's what's on the schedule for September:

Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins [Patreon: 9/6/21 - Free Feed: 9/13/21]

Chosen by one of our top patrons, we're covering the premium VHS release of 1995 that ultimately was just an ad for the Mortal Kombat movie. And we'll be joined by our buddy Matt McMuscles to help us break down all the flaws and silliness of Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins! How bad can it be to watch a barely animated MK roster read their character bios aloud? You'll be shocked at the answer!

You can currently watch Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins on Dailymotion.

Laverne & Shirley in the Army - "Invasion of the Booby Hatchers" [Patreon: 9/20/21 - Free Feed: 9/27/21]

As has long been teased by our premium patron Devin, the time has finally come for us to enter the animated world of Happy Days with one of it's crummiest and most forgotten entries. Learn the history of Gary Marshall's interconnected sitcom universe, and how a spin-off about a couple of gals from Milwaukee turned into a pair of Army recruits being bossed around by a pig. It's a very strange tale as we dig into the debut episode!

You can currently watch Laverne & Shirley in the Army on YouTube.

An Extended Free Preview of What A Cartoon Movie for The Road to El Dorado [Patreon: 9/27/21 - Free Feed: 10/4/21]

We asked for your help in picking a 2D Dreamworks film to cover, and you picked a great one: 2000's The Road to El Dorado! We've long discussed how the Disney Renaissance then lead to What A Cartoon Movie superstar, Jeffrey Katzenberg, taking as many talented animators from Disney as possible to make films for his new studio. This was the second 2D film they produced, with more than a little in common with our last couple movie podcasts about Lion King and Hunchback. Learn all about this film's quest for box office gold along with us!

And remember: $5 patrons and folks on the free feed will hear an extended preview of the podcast, but if you want the whole thing (and access to all other episodes of What A Cartoon Movie) you'll have to bump your subscription up to the $10 level.

In the United States, The Road to El Dorado is available to stream on Prime Video.

As usual, we've got an extremely varied collection of cartoons this month, and though TalKing of the Hill Season 2 Part 1 has come to an end, you'll still have monthly Talking Futuramas to tide you over until our Batman miniseries starts in October 2021. And who knows—we may have some surprises before then. Hang in there, and look forward to another month of great podcasts!

Haha I remember that MK tape...I think it eventually led to that USA mk show

SomeBloke

It speaks to the very specific intersection of my interests that as soon as I saw the MK picture I thought "So Matt McMuscles is the guest, right?" and was not disappointed.

The prophecy has been fulfilled

I feel a certain sense of pride knowing that I picked the worst thing you watched for the show so far.

Bob in the Mission Hill style is really cool looking.

Dayken

Really looking forward to both of these, while WAC is always fun to listen to I can't help but find the episodes that go in depth about garbage/also rans the most interesting.

Bob Mackey

Leave it to my wife to render me as cool as I actually am B)
