This episode is an absolute all-timer, and I looooooved the Batman 89 reference as a kid, it's something my older sister and I would reference all the time (both the actual scene from Batman, and the callback to it in this episode). Honestly thank god that OJ did not end up in this episode so we didn't have to have any stupid Discourse about it, or even just having to think about a murderer being present in what is otherwise a pretty perfect episode.

I think this is ranked so highly because it’s a good episode to show people that aren’t familiar with the Simpsons (yes, they exist, as weird as that is). You have a good Homer/Lisa story, a clear antagonist in Mr. Burns, everyone in the family gets some good bits in, you have great, pop culture references, and a song! All it needed was an appearance by Phil Hartman to complete the bingo card. This also has my favorite piece of animation in the whole series. It’s during the montage where Burns and Smithers are running the plant, and it’s the bit where they’re skipping in the hallway. I have no idea why it’s there, but I just love it so much.
