Yeah it is based on a video game series, the ace attorney series for the DS(with switch ports) consisting of 6 main games, Phoenix wright: ace attorney, pheonix wright ace attorney: Justice for all, Phoenix wright ace attorney: trials and tribulations, Apollo Justice: ace attorney, Phoenix wright ace attorney: dual destinies, and Phoenix wright ace attorney: spirit of Justice. There are also 5 spin off games, ace attorney case files: Miles Edgeworth, and a sequel to it that was never officially released in the west, professor Layton vs. ace attorney, a crossover game, and 2 prequels "the great ace attorney chronicles" which take place in Victorian times and follow an ancestor of Phoenix. (Pheonix was also in at least one of the marvel vs Capcom games). As for the people that made this, they are called random encounters, and they do a lot of great video game based comedy musicals. They do good stuff. the beard is an original creation of theirs, that makes a cameo in most of their videos, but aside from him and sweeping guy, (oh, and the professor Layton cameo) everyone else in the musical was actually from the ace attorney series
