Separating out my Magic explanation since it's quite lengthy. There's an explanation of magic here, though it seemed like you didn't catch all of it (I don't blame you, it's really hard to figure out how everything works), so I'll try to summarize it to the best of my knowledge (which isn't complete). Basically Mana exists everywhere, but notably in people and in the atmosphere. The Gate is the organ that turns Mana into Magic of a certain element. Now Mages cast magic by using Mana from their own body and only a small percentage of people in the world of Re:Zero are capable of that. This is how Roswaal, Rem and Subaru casts magic. But everyone can use Spirt Arts, where you contract with a Spirit and you use their Gate (or command them to use magic for you). This is how Emilia and Julius casts magic. In addition, Spirits require Mana to materialize, so they don't often materialize themselves. I think generally Spirits aren't capable of gaining Mana on their own, so free roaming Spirits aren't really much of a thing (I'm really not too sure about this). People using Spirit Arts generally use the Mana from the atmosphere to cast their spells, hence why Reinhard had to wait until Emilia was done casting to do his sword stuff, since it would of depleted the atmosphere of the Mana. Now Mages regain their Mana via absorbing it from the atmosphere, and really strong Mages have a problem, where they can get full of Mana, which is eventually fatal. These people have to ensure that they don't get too full of Mana and have a Magic Release Period to vent excess Mana. Now as for the Od. It's basically your life force, you can use it to cast Magic, but you shouldn't do that, since you can never regain your Od and if you run out, "you stop being you" or something. It's basically a last resort that will shorten your lifespan. It's worth noting that Subaru's Gate is really weak, and even casting Shamok is highly stressful to his Gate, and his casting of it in Arc 2 injured his Gate, for which he went to the Capital to get it healed by Felix. Ok I know that was a huge chunk of text, but there's a lot of nuance in magic in Re:Zero (this doesn't even get into the other 2 major categories of what we could call Magic (not to be confused with in universe Magic, which I just explained) of Divine Blessings and Authorities)

Part 1 comments First off, this OVA is completely canon, though as I mentioned to you previously (and you've seen now), it's mostly independent of the plot of Re:Zero, though it gives us some good information on some world lore and mechanics as well as some characters. The timeline of Re:Zero is as such so far. Arc 1: 1 day, Arc 2: 1 week, A 1 month timeskip in which Memory Snow and The Frozen Bond take place, Arc 3: ~5 days (I think). (4:45): It's worth noting that Subaru basically has night terrors every night now, from all the trauma he's endured. (13:03): This is actually a scene from another well known isekai, KonoSuba. The author of Re:Zero and the author of KonoSuba are very close in real life, and I think they knew each other before they started writting their works that made them famous, since I recall a story how they go drinking together (but I might be wrong), so it's a crossover scene. (19:30): So basically Subaru introduced Japansese mayonnaise (which is different to regular mayonnaise: https://www.eatingwell.com/article/7989316/what-is-japanese-mayo/) to the world of Re:Zero. Now it's worth noting that eating Japanese mayo is only sort of weird, basically on par with putting ketchup on a steak. Like it'll turn heads but it won't garner a reaction you might expect in the west of WTF would you do that for. Anyways, so Subaru sort of talked up mayonnaise and mentioned it was something he liked, so Rem took the initiative and made a whole bath of it. (20:30) I'm not quite sure, but the village is a fair bit away, like an hour or so walking from the mansion. Also the source of everything is Puck, who won't leave Emilia's side, so if everyone else left, then Emilia would be all alone in the mansion, and that would be sad. Also Roswaal has handled it by dressing up, and Beatrice doesn't seem to be affected, so only Rem, Ram, and Subaru seem to be negatively affected by the whole thing, and I'm guessing that Subaru doesn't want to leave Emilia, and the maids don't want to leave, since it's their job to take care of the mansion. That's just my guess though. Also probaly don't look too great to have the lord of the domain crash at peasants houses. (22:15): So Tadataka is a famous Japanese map maker, so Subaru wants Puck to apologize to him, since he would have to make a new map, which is a lot of effort.
