What an absolute belter of a film, and I know the reaction will be awesome too - looking forward to watching along when I finish work! [EDIT] Just finished watching - so much fun! :D Also - the mileage read with 3 white numbers and the yellow number (so 3017) but the 7 is actually .7 - so 301.7miles. Hence doing approximately 176miles or so in the time they had it! This was super fun, thanks for the reaction!

Hey DM, just wanted to let you know you do a mean Twist, and I was dancing along with you! As far as your questions Matthew Broderick has been in many movies both before and after Ferris. War Games (1983), Biloxi Blues (1987), Glory (1989), The Producers (2005), and many others. And Dirty Harry is a detective played by your favorite Clint Eastwood in 5 films from 1971-1988. He carried a very BIG gun and blew a lot of bad guys away. Been a while since I took in one of your full reactions. Looking forward to Elliot Ness and the Untouchables on Sunday! BTW, not moving to Texas was a good move. The culture shock would have gotten to you! Next time check out New England!!

Eric Bonham

It was the exact opposite with me. I could never get out of going to school, but my sister would get to stay home all the time.

Cracking film, and I loved your reaction as ever! You kinda have to accept the day happens in BuellerTime - for Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane time is running slower so they can fit everything in. This is the film that made me fall head over heels for Mia Sara. For other Matthew Broderick films, definitely check out another '80s classic WarGames and possibly Ladyhawke. I love Jeffrey Jones (Ed Rooney) in this, and he's also great in Beetlejuice. Shame he turned out to be a pervert & sex offender, makes me feel awfully guilty for liking his acting. Look forward to watching along with you again!

Bartleby

The thing about Jeffrey Jones supposedly being some kind of pervert is way overblown. The story came out that he was in possession of CP. What the video was, was a video that had made the rounds in Hollywood of actor Rob Lowe banging an underage girl. This was a video in the possession of a number of people in Hollywood. And for some strange reason Jeff Jones was more vilified by for owning this video rather than Rob Lowe himself who was in the video banging the underage girl.

I don't know if anyone has said this, but as fun as the scene is, I've never known a parade to take place on a weekday unless it was a holiday, in which case school would out.

Lee Pitman

Another super reaction, Dawn. During the parade, several of the people seen dancing (including the construction worker and the window washer) originally had nothing to do with the film. They were simply dancing to the music being played, and John Hughes found it so humorous that he told the camera operators to record it. Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward, who played Ferris's parents, married in real life after filming this movie. They later divorced in 1992. Even though they played siblings, Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey would later become engaged after this movie. Tragically, approximately a year later, after Broderick finished filming Biloxi Blues (1988), and before Grey's premier for Dirty Dancing (1987), the couple was involved in a fatal crash in Northern Ireland, where the passengers of the other vehicle, a mother and daughter, died in the accident. Cameron's father's 1961 GT250 Ferrari wasn't a real Ferrari. Because it was too expensive to rent one, three replicas were made, using an MG chassis, each with a fiberglass body. The producers received several angry letters from car enthusiasts who thought the car shown was a real Ferrari that was actually wrecked. Charlie Sheen was recommended by Jennifer Grey after they did Red Dawn (1984) together. To produce the desired drugged-out effect for his role as the drug addict in the police station he stayed awake for more than forty-eight hours before the scene was shot. These days he would probably just take some drugs. This was followed by Ferris Bueller (TV Series 1990–1991).
