Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson (Vyvyan) were both offered parts in An American Werewolf in London after director John Landis saw them perform on-stage and thought they were hilarious. Rik came to the set and got cast, but Adrian didn't believe Landis and never showed up. That was indeed a young Robbie Coltrane as the bouncer (he also voiced the talking broom).
