John Wayne (real name Marion Morrison) has Scottish, Scotch-Irish, English and Irish ancestry. His father's family originally came from the Isle of Lewis. Wayne played (American) football for USC (University of Southern California), but broke his collar bone bodysurfing, this ending his sports career. Through connections of his football coach, Wayne made acquaintance with famous lawman Wyatt Earp. Earp influenced Wayne's acting persona, the way he talked and walked. Jimmy Stewart also has Scottish and Scotch-Irish ancestry.

As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed your reaction to this western. Some of the best loved and highly acclaimed westerns include: High Noon (Gary Cooper - it has a very famous theme tune too); Stagecoach (John Wayne), Rio Bravo (John Wayne) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Clint Eastwood, with another very famous theme tune).
