This is a HUGELY IMPORTANT episode of our podcast, so I wanted to share it here. Did you know the US can't make its own penicillin? Or aspirin? That's because China dominates the global medical supply chain. And that puts all of our lives at risk. Please share this episode! Vitally important information. China has dominated the global supply chain for medicine. And that came back to bite when the coronavirus pandemic struck. We were dependent on medical supplies of PPE's from China. And the Chinese Communist Party used that against us. Joining us today is Rosemary Gibson, co- author of China Rx: Exposing the Risks of America's Dependence on China for Medicine. Great interview. This bring me to a personal observation that frighten me more by the day. I'll try to make it short but this subject alone could use a whole book. The brain exodus or disappearance. I lack the proper words but let me explain. What I mean by 'brain' is most profession that require engineering and creative innovations. Engineer to a small degree myself, I am stuck working in a domain were my abilities are considered overkill. And I could bring a long list of people in a similar situation. Mostly co-workers. Many of whom are vastly more qualified than myself. Jobs for engineers have literally gone into thin air in the last 20 or 30 years. Some jobs and companies still exist but they have become a rarity in Canada. We used to build great aircraft, vehicles of all kind, aerospatial equipment, high end electronics, name it. But not anymore. Almost. It's not yet entirely gone from Canada but it's slowly parting away. Canada built less and less stuff every years and the know how 'brains' people are either going to other countries, rendered useless by NOT performing what they where trained for or gone to retirement. The last and by far biggest portion of these professional have -like myself- recycled themselves into other jobs. Technological creation or engineering jobs are more and more sparse by the day. Now, imagine if a third world war happen. What is Canada going to build to contribute to the war effort? Sling shots, bows and arrows? See my point? Because we almost entirely rely on China to built virtually EVERYTHING we have killed the requirement to develop knowledge in almost every possible domains. The know how is going away fast and this problem is getting worst with every generation that disappear from every field of expertise. We are loosing our abilities to built ourselves equipment to protect against foes. We are been rendered useless and I can easily see this same situation happening in many countries around the globe. And the government are doing nada because of greed. Edited a few typos.
