well, again not much that i can do to further the production of zap & andy this week, so i kept working on that visual novel project me and a friend of mine were talking about-
i was asked to slightly alter sama's design to make him look less like a CEO and more like a white collar worker, i dunno if i managed to do that, but seems like it's a step on the right direction
i also got asked to work more on the shark, baho. I guess i went too overboard with the design of the first draft, the character is supposed to have two sides to him, hermetically separated. One he shows to people he's attracted to when he goes clubbing in leather bars and one he accurately hides from his gay peers so not to damage his reputation as a true alpha male. Think of kanji tatsumi but with more gay sex XD
lastly i worked on a mockup for the actual ingame graphics. We weren't sure wich direction to go, full hd illustrations or go for the look of a pc98 visual novel. In the end we decided to go for the latter. Going for pixels instead of carefully rendered hd illustrations is always a risk, but I've already tried my hand at the style and in general we were both more inspired by this approach so in the end that's the choice we took.
first i worked on the frame and a starting bg , using the native resolution of the pc 98 (640x400) and 16 colors for the whole thing
and then i worked on a character, in this case dj , since he's the most finalized in terms of character design. He uses the same 16 color palette i used for the bg!
(also an enlarged version so you don't have to squint too hard hah XD)
