No worries! I just grabbed my copy to read along! Oh, you will cry some more! This is Berserk after all!! A more Halloween sounding song from the Soundtrack of Berserk, Ashcrow : https://youtu.be/asPanJFCh2U Of all the apostles, Rosine is the one I have the most empathy for. She is just a child. Unfortunately, she is under the influence of Causality and becomes a monster. Guts also feels empathy for her, that is why he misses three times to kill her. He even questions himself as to if he is a softie! Well, of course he is! My favorite panel from Lost Children is Guts protecting Jill with his cloak against the dark, a faint halo above his head. He does have tenderness in his eye and he is right, this is no place for her. If you notice, there are several panels that Guts's head is silhouetted by the moon in a halo. He has taken the darkness with him and left a blue sky. Very sad. So, this story, is a bit of a reversal, Guts is not the main character, Jill is. It's her story. We are seeing Guts from the perspective of someone who just happened to stumble upon him. In turn, Guts witnesses Jills struggles that are so much like his own as a child. So why did he not help her when she was in need? Well, that is not Guts and also no one helped him. Basically, he just didn't know any better. But I think he is starting to get a clue. He does give Jill some sound advice in the end. Oh that next page? That's the B. O. D.!
