Joyce learned a new word! Yay!

Colton

Yeah Joyce, who's in your polycule?

Anonymous

Great strip, and a great callback to the night that Joyce, Dorothy, and Walky all fell asleep in Joyce's bed after a late night watching cartoons. And there was a fair bit of "Wait, how the hell are three people fitting on that bed?" in the comments section at the time.

🎵Come and knock on our door! Three’s Company!!🎵

Andrea Andrew

Now that she knows what a polycule is, I wonder if she’ll want someone else to join her relationship with Joe. Perhaps a brainy ex future president she’s been attracted to for a while.

Andrea Andrew

Let’s face it. This series will probably end in a polycule of everyone but Mary.

Anonymous

I love that she's now apologizing in advance for her gaps in knowledge and any unintentional offense she might cause. This is destined to become a more frequent occurrence, especially once Joyce learns that she does, in fact, know several trans people. (Joyce: "Gonna ask a question, please don't hate me." Carla: "Oh, that ship sailed a long time ago. Just fucking ask.")

Paul Grodt

Willis, please make more porn. I really need it. Thanks in advance.

Andrea Andrew

I wonder if Joyce asking this question is because she needs to know what a polycule is for the main story for some reason.

Anonymous

I feel like Carla couldn’t hate Joyce for the same reason you can’t really hate the squirrels eating out of bird feeders, they’re just kinda silly little idiots that just do things without meaning any harm

Anonymous

@Aneterio: Oh, I feel the same way. I just envision Joyce peppering Carla with questions (some spectacularly tone-deaf) about being trans, to the point of her getting exasperated and saying something like that but not meaning it, because she'll know Joyce's heart is in the right place.

You underestimate her innocence, Mandy. Or you're fucking with her.

Onyx

HAHAHA, but also awesome and wholesome!

Lisa

I get the impression that Mandy and Joyce consider each other passing acquaintances, so probably the first one. Or maybe I'm the one underestimating Mandy's propensity to troll.

Grace is all, "Dammit! Someday *I* want to be the Big Spoon!"

They are so cute!!

Yes, Joyce can fit it: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2017/comic/book-7/04-the-do-list/fun-3/

"We'll save that for later."

@Douglas: Had a lengthy comment that I just deleted because, looking at your comment again, it looks like you may be mixing up Grace and Mandy. Grace is the tallest member of the polycule, so she's ALWAYS the big spoon. Mandy is the shortest one, in the middle, so the wish would make more sense coming from her.

Reminder that there's a wonderful and hilarious Slipshine one-shot drawing featuring the polycule. A game of rock-paper-scissors is involved.

Sierra with the :> face

Rebirth_Exo

It's a shame we don't see more of these three in the main story. Though considering that the comic has tons of characters being spotlighted, the minor ones are mostly relegated to the bonus comics.

Andrea Andrew

It is a shame. They seem like interesting characters. Also, their relationship, that needs more representation, seems like a way for Joyce to solve her feelings for both Dorothy and her current partner, Joe.

Anonymous

Grace's perpetually bemused expression is entertaining as well.

Anonymous

It would be interesting to learn how the polycule came to be. We know that Grace and Mandy were a couple first, but Sierra's addition is so far unexplored.

Douglas Appelt

Yep. You're right. I got confused as which one was shorter. Based on Joyce's comment of Mandy-Sierra-Grace, my brain parsed that as tallest to shortest, even though Sierra's statement before that shows that's wrong.

ValdVin

I just think back to the shower stilts scene. Carla can't hate Joyce no matter how she tries (https://www.dumbingofage.com/2017/comic/book-7/03-the-thing-i-was-before/framework/ &c).

Andrea Andrew

Sierra was also a churchgoer with Joyce, Mary, and Dorothy, yet she likes women. Also, she’s easygoing and chooses to wear no shoes for years.

Rebirth_Exo

The sad part is that the polycule was during the time skip. So unless Wills makes something similar to a Slipshine, these characters are on the back burner.

Anonymous

@Rebirth_Exo: Sierra was already dating them well before the timeskip: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2017/comic/book-7/03-the-thing-i-was-before/unraveling/

Rebirth_Exo

Ah, my bad. Been so long see them I got my info mixed up. Thanks for the heads up.

Andrea Andrew

I just remembered that Dorothy received a Bible verse from Joyce on lunch she gave Dorothy that’s used at Lesbian weddings, and Sierra was there to hear that. Wonder if Sierra ships Joyce and Dorothy.
