As for Jiu revealing the secret, I agree it wasn’t his to share but there wouldn’t have been anything else he could’ve said to convince Ma, for him to believe Tian would actually leave with Jiu and leave the role behind. He thought they were alone in the middle of the forest and outnumbered. If Ma didn’t really ‘believed’ him, he had not way to stop them from killing Tian upon return.

It is heartbreaking he learn about the situation like that. For sure. But I honestly can’t think of another excuse jiu could have said that Ma would’ve believed. What I do blame jiu is for not telling Tian the situation himself right after they became a thing.
