Hey! Watch me attack the canvas in this exciting episode. In order to capture the twisted organic forms of the landscape, I approached this piece with a looser and sketchier style than usual. When I sketch on paper it's gestural and full of chatter. This leads to a lot of improvisation as my imagination pulls unexpected ideas from the sketchy forms. However, sketching in pixels always feels like it leaves a lot of unnecessary mess that will have to be cleaned up, so I try to keep it clean from the start and tend to construct my images more than I draw them. The clean approach is quite efficient and works greats for certain subjects and styles. On the other hand, the more natural drawing approach is well suited for creating expressive organic forms. Recently I'm exploring a more natural drawing style and finding success marrying it with my cleaner forms. Exciting new avenues are opening up!

I've always had a bit of trouble sketching in pixels... maybe because it's a hassle to clean up after. I should try your way and see how it goes. You made an outstanding piece there! Very different from what you usually do, I like it! Cheers!
