April Schedule 2020 (Patreon)
Content
Greetings everyone. I hope that you all are safe and doing well.
Pheww... I survived March. It's been difficult times with the pandemic the world is experiencing, but I'm glad to report I'm staying safe and doing as well as possible given the situation. Things escalated so quickly, thinking back to just one month ago seems surreal. The first week of the month was business as usual. I was watching NBA games and totally taking it for granted up until they pulled the plug on March 11th. Although the threat of the virus was looming it seems most people in the United States were in denial about it reaching here. But here we are now, all living the quarantine life.
It's especially in times like these we recognize the importance of art in our lives. Both consuming and creating art can be incredibly therapeutic. No matter the situation, having a creative outlet gives you something to look forward to everyday. Furthermore, I think creativity can be a salvation in dark times. So let's keep those pixels flowing and turn this into something beautiful in the end.
As always, I'll be here for you with pixel goodies. However, you may notice the schedule looks a bit different than usual. This month I'm focusing on development of Thyrian Defenders. We're getting very close to completion, but this final stage of development is going to need an extra push if we ever want to release in this lifetime. My usual patreon content is so demanding that gamedev time always gets compromised into sporadic small time slices. This is not a proficient way to approach gamedev, as there are so many little things you have to be mindful of when making a game. So, the plan is to work on the game as much as possible this month, and provide weekly updates. Since this will make up the core of the monthly content, I will try to make these updates as substantial as I can with art and insights.
As eager as I am to make progress on the game, I still have to fulfill my urge to create personal work. Therefore, in addition to regular TD updates, I will continue the Sunken Planet series with a couple new entries. Also, I plan on releasing at least one random original artwork around mid month. So, the big hit is no Pixelblog this month. But don't worry, it will be back next month. I've released a Pixelblog every month for 27 consecutive months now. I think one month off at this point is reasonable, and will allow me to charge up some new ideas for future tutorials and other content ideas I'd like to explore. Most importantly, you'll still be getting plenty of content. The truth is, I originally started this Patreon largely to help support gamedev, so you're actually getting very appropriate content this month. Always evolving and thinking of ways to improve!
Thanks always for your support, especially in these difficult times. Having you with me on this journey is everything.
