Hello!

So, with regard to a change to my posting schedule, I would like y'all's opinion. 😊

Right now, I do 3/week, 52 weeks per year. This comes out to 12- 14 chapters per month, totaling 156 chapters per year.

I think it will help my sanity and my buffers to have a slight alteration.

Either:

A. 1 day "off" per month.
(Meaning that there would be 1 day per month that would otherwise get a chapter that now would not.)

OR

B. 12 chapters per month, regardless of length.

<In both cases, I will still be doing a Bonus chapter as I am able. I really enjoy doing them quite a bit. 😁>

In both A and B, I would be releasing the same number of chapters per year.

A = 156 - (1/month off * 12 months) = 156 - 12 = 144/year

B = 12 chapters/month * 12 months/year = 144/year

To me, B is a much better plan because then paying for  a month of Patreon will always get you the same number of released chapters.

I truly am open to other ideas as well, snark in the last polling option aside! 😉

Feel free to ask if you have any questions. 😊

Thank you, all, for being willing to support me writing this fun story. I am excited for the months and years to come, continuing to write Tala's tale and whatever I end up writing next. 😁

Best Regards,
J.L.Mullins

Maybe even more days off? Alternate weeks between 2 and 3 chapters. Scheduleal a: m.w.f b: m.f and bonus ones a month. This sounds slightly more sane to me. Dunno why you should work so much.

Option B seems steadier to me, but that might just be my perception. Take whatever time off you need to achieve work-life balance, whatever it may be that feels best for you and your writing which we so love. I really don’t mind when you take time off, or how you do it although I do love consistency so that I can always look forward to your chapters on a schedule whenever they might be coming out.

I think the most important thing for us as readers, or at least for me (regardless if it's Patreon or RoyalRoad) is to have a consistent schedule which is easy to keep track of. For example, if you set your no-post day to the first Monday of each month (just said something random) Then it's pretty easy to remember even if you don't give reminders before each day off.

Most employers that run low-end cube farms (office jobs) in the U.S. offer 20-30 days of vacation a year, or 8+ hours a pay period (80 hours). This is for entry employees for the first few years. You should hold yourself to the same or better standard. To me that means you should be taking more time than you are suggesting. // assuming it takes ~12 hours to write, edit, re-write and post a chapter, plus an 4 hours a week in general admin, that makes a 40 hour work week. Maybe you write faster, maybe slower. So using the above minimum standard, you should take two business days off a month. That may not equate to a set number of chapters, but only you know your schedule, habits and time commitment. I think I remember you having a day job on top of all this, which makes me wonder where you get the time.

Ahh, but I'm doing what I absolutely love and feel called to do. 😁 This change is just to lighten the bit of stress I occasionally feel when life is full... and life is always full of late. 😉🤣 I appreciate the sentiment, though, and I will definitely keep it in mind! 😊

I always appreciate the updates, but to be honest do not even know the current schedule or notice breaks generally unless they're months long. I follow quite a few stories, and all is well unless an author posts _too_ much, actually. 😁 I had to drop The Wandering Inn for that reason....

Do what you need to when important life moments come up …. your writing is appreciated but your family and mental health is important
