If you've kept up with any of the general news posts this year, we're shifting our main focus on the upcoming The Exile of Aphrodisia sequel, for now named Return to Aphrodisia. After spending some time reworking and refining the art system for the player, companions, and followers, we've arrived at a decent solution that will allow us to start populating the world with artwork that can be dynamically recolored using Unity's shadergraph, allowing for a degree of character customization.
We're aiming for an initial public alpha release date of Jan 1, at which point we intend to make a build of the game available via Itch.io.
The top 2 winners of this poll will get artwork commissioned and should be some of the first transformations available in the game.
Currently transformations can happen through story events or through consumable potions, and transformations will affect how that unit performs in battle (a Minotaur may have great physical strength but little to no magical damage) as well as in story events (such as fairies being able to fly and thus able to reach areas ground-based party members cannot.) We also plan to add battle transformations as well, such as transforming opponents temporarily (or maybe permanently) into cows, chickens, statues, clothing, etc).
Current forms that exist are the Fairy flowertender and Satyr reveler (male and female), as well as six pieces of art for the player's starting/base forms.
Please leave suggestions on what you'd be interested in seeing on polls in the future!
