At long last, public release v0.1.12.0 is now available.  You can download the file here:

I can't speak for all developers, but I use it because the max file upload size is larger (compared to Patreon's 200mb limit, which, with enough graphics, I may hit), is more reliable, and allows for people to tip you by 'buying' the game at whatever price they see fit (or a minimum price, if you set one). So it's a neat way to distribute games.
