So, that friend request for May is from one of the girls that was bullying her in season 1 (I'm pretty sure it's the main girl that was bullying her, but I could be wrong), which was a contributing factor in her attempted suicide. So, yeah, I can see why she would reticent to accept that request. All that carnage caused by one drunk driver! That just causes my blood to boil!!! Little Jee-Yun is adorable, I mean, that whole family is adorable! This show (and LS) really like to put us through the ringer emotionally! Why you gotta do that to Albert? I'm glad he made it, though

This was the first episode back after the mid season finale, so it had been ≈4 months since the last episode. Watching the teaser promo after 4x8 and then having to wait all that time was intense, since the promo kept hinting that it was a member of the 118 that was hurt (and that they didn’t make it). While it’s not any better that it ended up being Albert, I’m just glad that everyone ended up fine in the end.

The anxiety I felt during this episode when I first watched it - I was so sure they were gonna do the whole "someone dies as someone is born" thing, but thank god the show isn't that cruel. Chim already lost one brother, let the man have some peace, dammit. Can't wait to get into these last 4 episodes of this season, they are a FUCKING ride!

Excellent reaction. So stoked to see 9-1-1!

This episode was so good. I also was bracing myself for Albert not to make it when that song kicked in, but so glad they didn't do that. The situation with the mom driving on the wrong side of the freeway and the kid calling 911 instantly made me think about the Taconic State Parkway crash which I'm guessing was probably the inspiration for this story. Such a horrific and bizarre case - I watched a really interesting documentary about it called There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane. The woman in real life died from the crash and even though they found alcohol and THC in her tox screen, the family denies that she had any issues with substance misuse and believes some other medical event was going on that may have caused her to take the substances. Hard to say whether they're just in denial or if there's any plausibility to that. So sad regardless.

The crash sequence from inside the car was TOO realistic. I rewatched a few times and it actually made me nauseous. I'm sure this was inspired by the 2009 Taconic State Parkway crash in NY. But it hit especially hard for me because one of my best friends from high school committed suicide this way in 2002.
