I would actually be relieved if someone let me in on an upcoming proposal. I don't like surprises and traditions or formalities for their sake alone. Being put on the spot, especially in public, does not work for me either. I would fully expect that I'd be aware and have had time to script and rehearse my response 😂, otherwise make it as informal as possible. Overall sincerity would be all that's necessary.

because derek‘s biggest weakness is his ego. he was so sure that saving that woman would be easy-peasy and then she died. it really deeply wounded his ego. and since meredith was around she got all the anger he directs at himself directed at her. he wanted to self-destruct.

I was refering in general to all the ways people think proposals are supposed to be, even that they should be completely surprising and spontaneous. Even an entire room of roses and petals would have been too much pressure and formality for me personally. Quite a few less and somewhat of a heads up would be more my comfort level. Just saying!
