I think they made a deliberate choice to make it unclear as to whether Hotch or the sniper took the shot, I thought he did the first time I watched this show but the more times I watch it the more I’m convinced it was the sniper. Hotch was in the room and so he knew Gideon was managing to talk him down and Gideon never looked at Hotch after he was shot which I think he would have if Hotch had been the one to shoot. Also just before he’s shot we see the cop asking the sniper if they have a clear shot but we don’t hear his answer, while previously we heard him say negative. But at the same time you can see the gun smoke in the background when the scene cuts to Hotch (but I don’t know enough about guns/sniper shots to know the possible reasons for that) and the episode has the plot line about a time Hotch talked someone down he killed again and questioning whether he’d do the same thing if he could go back. So I think the writers made it ambiguous as to who shot the unsub on purpose which just makes the ending even more thought provoking and engaging and open to individual interpretation - such a good episode in that sense.

It’s very much the viewers interpretation of the episode I think I ended up rewatching this a couple times because I couldn’t tell who shot Him … Hotch or the sniper and it’s left so opened ended . Anyways love your reaction to this as usual!! I’m glad to see you enjoying this show you get so into the episodes guessing and trying to find your own clues 😂❤️ love it !

nyc resident here! there are definitely still cabs, but compared to the way that each block used to have at least 1 cab on it, the number has definitely lessened. you still see swarms of them in hubs like times sq or the airport, but because of inflation the fares have gone up so much that most people i know avoid taking them lol! vast majority of people take the subway, and people who can afford cabs just take ubers so...
