I'm gonna be honest. I couldn't take the 'creepy teenager' seriously. To me, he didn't come across as creepy (even though I know that's what they were going for), he just came across as weird to me. I felt like he was trying a bit too hard. On the other hand, David Tennant is a brilliant actor! You believe him as John Smith and you believe him as the Doctor (Doctor Who? Sorry couldn't resist 🤣). That ending is one of the sweetest endings I've seen on this show!

Agree to disagree. I think the teenager came across demented and played it well ! You don’t watch much horror and this episode would fall into that categoryish for me.

I can't believe you dropped both parts, this is awesome. It's definitely one of my favorite stories in Doctor Who. It's actually adapted from a Doctor Who novel written in 1995 featuring the 7th Doctor. In the original story, Tim started turning into a Time Lord each time he opened the chameleon arch. In a dark twist, his classmates actually hanged him, but he had developed two hearts and time lord respiratory system and survived the hanging. A touch too dark for the TV show no doubt

i love the way that david tennant plays the darker side of the doctor, at certain times you can really feel how old that character is. "they wanted to live forever, so the doctor made sure that they did" gives chills lol. lovee this two parter, and the episode that follows!

Yay. How spoilt are we. I'm curious now to see your reaction to the next episode. The next monsters are my personal favourite and the scariest for me. I know what you mean about humans though, I like it when shows that are full of monsters have an arc where the big bad is actually ordinary humans just being the very worst of humanity.

I'm really glad you loved these episodes, I had a feeling you would. They're in my top 20 of the entire show. The writing is fantastic and literally everyone acted SO well. David played both The Doctor and John as such opposites, they really felt like different people. And I totally agree about the actor for Jeremy Baines, he's just brilliant in this, so creepy. My only slight issue is with the whole Nurse Redfern situation. The problem with Joan isn’t that she’s racist because that’s realistic of the time (sadly). It’s the fact that The Doctor still wants to be lovey dovey with her when he’s back as The Doctor, that doesn't feel like him. I guess he was just trying to be nice but instead of inviting Joan to travel with him at the end, he should've put Martha first. Martha herself said it best, sometimes he acts like she doesn't exist. But I do love that you're getting so into the show now. Your smile said it all, this show is really special. It takes some time to get invested but once you do, nothing else feels quite like it. It's totally unique and I guess that's why it's been on for 60 years so far. I look forward to seeing what you think of the next episode. It's a real fan favourite with your first introduction to some iconic villains. And then in the episode after that, well let's just say someone will make you very excited. 👀
