Regarding the admissibility of tape recordings in court, some US states have a two-party consent system meaning that all parties must be aware they're being recorded and consent to it for the recording to be entered into evidence. Clue is set in New England 1954, but the exact state isn't specified. If it's set in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire, the recording isn't admissible. If it's set in Rhode Island, consent is not required when the recorded party does not have a reason to expect privacy.

So, when this originally came out, you would get a different ending depending on what theater you went to. Theaters got a copy of the movie with either the A, B, or C ending. I personally love the third ending, although I love different parts from the other two. That whole bit that Mrs. White had about “flames on the side of my face” was improv by the actress (you can see Martin Mull sort of break character behind her while she’s doing it 😂).

As an adult, this is probably in my top 10 favorite movies. It’s definitely one of my favorite Tim Curry roles, especially because of the last 15-20ish minutes. I love that one of the last lines is “I did it, with the revolver, in the hall”, since that’s one of the main things from the game. (It honestly took me a few watches to get that 😂) I grew up playing the kids version of the game (who ate the cake, in what room, and with what drink 😂), but as a teen/adult I love the real version of the game. Im not sure if this has been remade yet, I think when I’ve googled it before there’s been another version, but nothing will top Tim Curry’s performance in this one for me 😂🤷🏻♥️. This was 10 years after The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and around the same time as Legend (another awesome Tim Curry movie my mom made sure I’d seen 😂)

So corny, but that's why I love it! Haven't seen this in forever! Glad you enjoyed it Travis

there are options?? LOL. When this movie was in the theaters, there were three endings. Different theaters showed different endings so when people talked about it, they would possibly have seen different ones to confuse people. Only when it was releases on video did they put all the endings in with the "That's how it could have happened". Also fun fact, when Mrs. White did the "Flames, on the side of my face", that was improvised. Also, the timeline of the police arriving, when they keep saying the police will be here in XX minutes, was the amount of time in the movie from that point to when the police actually arrive in the scene.

This is such a fun movie 🎥. When you said it was almost 40years old I literally stopped pouring my wine 🍷 and exclaimed “WHAT” 🤣 and lastly my family and I reference the “flames on the side of my face” comment all the time. Thanks

This is one of my favorite comedies of all time, it is so clever and hilarious, there are so many jokes that sometimes you kind of miss because they are so fast, like Mrs. White line "mine or other women's" she says it so quickly. This movie also just had comedic legends in it, everyone has a moment to shine. Tim Curry absolutely shines at the end with him explaining what happened. Some fun facts, the house is designed exactly like the game where the rooms are located at, plus the secret passage ways. And they don't really show them to well but everyone's car is the color of their name. The director was pretty strict with the script so it's probably surprising to know there was very little improvisation in the movie. Except for Mrs. White's flame rant, that was the only scene and everyone's reactions were completely genuine, you can see them trying really hard not to break, Madeline Kahn was truly a legend! Also when she falls while trying to go upstairs that also was mistake they left in, she couldn't go up the stairs that quickly with that dress. And if you go back and re-watch it you'll see that Wadswoth was right when saying who was missing when people were killed. Like when Eyvette screamed Mrs. Peacock is the one that is missing, when they discover the cook dead Plum is missing, both of them show up at the beginning but soon are no longer to be seen in those scenes. So every ending does add up and there are no plot holes to them. And like other's have said when it came out every theater had a different ending, which was not praised at the time but now it's brilliant! It took this film a little bit to become a cult classic, at the time it was panned but I am so glad it found an audience because it is just so great!
