I loved how Dickens was kinda a grouch and non-believer like scrooge and then it ended like it did with the Christmas Carol reference.

This is a really good episode. It's creepy and sad but also uplifting at the same time, something Doctor Who does really well. I love the way Rose is slowly learning how hard it is to be part of The Doctor's life but also how exciting and fulfilling it is. And he's starting to realize that Rose is more than just a friend to him. The way they get closer as each episode passes is so sweet. And the special effects in this one are slightly better too, still cheap looking but an improvement on the first two episodes for sure. 😂 I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.

This is a cute episode. I like it because it finishes the introduction to time travel. Ep1 was present day, Ep2 was future, and now Ep3 is historical.

You can be forgiven for wondering if the doctor was someone else. Especially after all the conversations we have had surrounding the doctor. I love that the Gelth used the idea of a 'time war' and the 'last of our kind' to garner sympathy from the doctor to get him to let them through the rift. I know they don't specifically say whether or not the Gelth know that he is a Time Lord or not. But the writers obviously had that intent behind it. You can tell that whatever happened in his past connected with this Time War weighs heavily on him. So much so that he was willing to overlook anything about f this species and let them through into this world. So you will always get Doctor Who at the end and then Next Time. So when you hear the DumtaDum you will know the next time is coming up afterwards.

This is easily my favorite of the first 3 episodes of the show! A cohesive story, more developments for the Doctor, and Charles Dickens! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and yes, Mr. Dickens was definitely dramatic. Honestly, I would've been disappointed if he wasn't! I see that you've also reacted to the next 2 episodes as well. I'll have to save those for another time
