One of my favorite Glee tribute episodes. I like pretty much like all the covers in this episode but absolutely LOVE the "Smooth Criminal" and "Human Nature" covers featured in this episode like how I mentioned in last episode how "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" is one of my favorite covers that happened on Glee and easily within my top 20 favorite covers from Glee the "Smooth Criminal" and Human Nature" covers are also within my top 20 favorite covers from Glee. Season 3 of Glee has some of my favorite covers that were done on the show.

Siobhan Linehan

This really is a great episode, my third favourite of season 3. They do a great job with the music overall, I especially love Artie and Mike singing Scream. That's epic. But all the performances are fire in this one. 🔥👌

Leslie Tolbert

Definitely one of my top 5 episodes of the series! You were asking about the timeline - it originally aired on January 31, 2012.

Nicole Sadler

YES MY FAV!! I can relate to your reaction so much Travis!! :D

Helen Moore

This is one of the best episodes of the series, and yes that is 2 cellos! Also smooth criminal is widely considered one of the best songs ever done on glee and the tension and chemistry is A+

Kammy

Funny thing is Sam could’ve just left the lights displaying M.J. cause Mercedes Jones lol

Gemma Rivera

I rewatch this particular episode so much. I always cry when it gets to the scene with Burt and Kurt. I love Burt's enthusiasm and support and his willingness to just put his feelings out there and tell Kurt how proud he is of him. Best.TV. DAD...EVER. The song choices were great and the people chosen to sing them was spot on. Scream is iconic in my mind because it features two things that rarely happen on Glee...first is Artie dancing (such a shame that he was cast in role that couldn't showcase his dancing) and second is Mike Chang being a lead in a song and while killing it with his dance moves! I am always looking at him in group performances when he's dancing. He, Heather, and Naya always draw my attention in group performances. I love Santana in this episode. She is finding a balance of keeping her edge, but now channeling her powers for the greater good. I loved how she is using her fierceness to stand up for and protect her fellow members, specifically Blaine - this is why I have a secret head canon that she and Blaine were actually good friends that we didn't get to see on screen. I love how she supported Kurt too. That scene in the classroom with Kurt was just great. The Finchel proposal...He proposed because he was insecure about his future and felt like he had nothing else good in his life except for her and she said yes for the exact same reason. The strongest relationships that I have seen are the ones where you have two people who are amazing individuals in their own right and don't need each other, but rather they choose to be together because life with that person is better than life without. Choosing someone to fill a void puts so much pressure on the other person and the relationship and marriage is hard enough as it is without adding those extra layers of pressure. Overall, great episode reaction Travis! I've been waiting for you to get to this episode because I know that you are massive Michael/Jackson family fan. After doing Smooth Criminal with the 2 cello guys, they featured her in another of their music videos. The chemistry in Smooth Criminal is raw, they just put those 4 in the room and gave them a lot of freedom in terms of the performance and we got that amazing iconic number, easily in my top 5 of all time (also, they recorded We Found Love from the last episode on the same day that they filmed Smooth Criminal)

One of my favorite Glee episodes SONG wise!! There's also an an entire deleted scene/song from this episode of the Warblers performing "I want you Back" which you should 100% check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9M2NfGkXaE&ab_channel=MrRPMurphyExclusive

Great episode and when you were going on about them remaking the video with Artie and Mike Chang (yes a definite snack) I couldn’t wait until you saw the end of Black or White… and like you, I think Burt is AWESOME!

I remember when you reacted to the Smooth Criminal battle on YouTube and now we've come full circle! Can't remember if that battle was your first Glee reaction though. I consider this episode as a sort of preview of Harry Shum Jr. as that warlock character on Shadowhunters (I basically saw enough of the show to see Harry's introduction as the character). Not really, but I consider it that way. Plus, as always, his dancing is super impressive, but his singing isn't bad either (obviously, not on the same level as his dancing, though). Finn should definitely sing in his lower range more often! Sounds way better than when he's belting high notes and such. And yeah, Santana totally won that Smooth Criminal battle! Grant Gustin is a decent singer, but he doesn't really move the needle for me. Also, I know the video of all them turning into one another is supposed to be heartfelt and everything, but it actually creeps me out! But overall, a very good episode

Dani

Yes!! This episode is always top on my rewatch list when I'm in the mood for some Glee. There’s not a single bad performance in the whole episode and the storylines are interesting as well. I can’t believe you’re going into the back half of season 3 already it’s wild! But I'm living!!

This episode is EVERYTHING

Monique Vanh

I miss our Naya so fucking much.

Annie Willow

I think it’s absolutely hilarious that they are singing about a murderous rat to Blaine.

Capri Zonica

What?! I knew it was about a rat, ubt always thought it was aout a pet rat, lol. Gotta google that now.

Gemma Rivera

Lol, I just googled it and it's about a mercenary rat who was trained to attack humans and becomes an enormous super rat https://www.songfacts.com/facts/michael-jackson/ben

Suzy Differ

This is one of my favorite songs that Mercedes sings. And Burt is the best dad ever . I only wish my dad would have been like him instead of what he was.

Staton Chapman

This episode is definitely one if my favorite

Brittany Wilson

Michael died June 25th 2009 and this episode aired January 31st 2012. Hands down one of the best episodes of the entire series.

Lauryn Shealy

I knew you’d love this episode! Glad you had fun with it ❤️

leslie martin

i know the cast said this ep was super hard and very demanding (physically and emotionally). i remember i think Naya said she shot "smooth criminal" and another number on the same day. Jenna said she was barely in this ep bc she was very bad at the time (emotionally and mentally drained) and Lea said that it was probably her least fav ep to shoot bc they had so much pressure bc it was Michael and everyone wanted to do amazing! she also said that at some point at the end of the week Amber and her were so out of it they were basically like "okay that's it byyye" lol. This cast worked so hard and we can say what we want about the writing and cringing in the show, but the cast always gave 100%, their covers are always good, they privileged their work over anything else (health, relationship, family time) and the show wouldn't be half good if it wasn't for the main cast giving their all in the show! :) also this ep is so good! they really did amazing imo! (i still prefer the madonna ep or the britney ep for crazier reasons but in terms of homage, they did amazing imo)

Breanna

“Not the ‘hee hee’” 😂😂 One of the best episodes for sure!

leslie martin

i agree with that Grant Gustin statement. i think Santana won EASILY. and i'm not "as obsessed" with the cover as the rest of the fandom... i think Naya was insanely good and the 2 cellos arrangement is awesome, but to me Grant's performance is way above Naya's and the cover always felt weird to me. i still enjoy it a lot bc of her, but i don't think their voices matched really well. (eve if the chemistry was good)

Flo

I love seeing Arie dance with Mike Chang in Scream. You’re right, they definitely under-utilised Artie. I LOVE Sam and Mercedes doing Human Nature, that’s when I fell in love with them as a couple back in the day.

Simone Poinga-Hill

Yeah it's criminal that Kevin/Artie was one of their best dancers and he was in a wheelchair so he didn't get to show it off.

Helen Moore

Sam and Mercedes duets are so sexy like the way their voices work together it is just butter. I want Amber and Chord to do a duet.
