I’m pretty sure that Milk and cookies was actually a continuation of the story from Tag You’re it. It’s a little more clear in the music videos, but the character that this album is about, Crybaby, goes through Tag You’re it- and then ends up poisoning her captor. The music videos for those two were released as one video, along with Soap and Training Wheels in one too. Most of the album is one continuous story (I think it’s just easier to tell from the music videos) of a girl named Crybaby. A few background characters are in a few of them, like her mom and a doctor. Carousel was actually used to promote American Horror Story: Freak Show, and it’s one of the videos that I don’t think is technically a part of the Crybaby story (I could be wrong, I’m not actually a huge Melanie Martinez fan).

As far as I know, Melanie got her start on The Voice. I don’t even know what season it was. I believe there might have been 1 or two albums released since this one, but I haven’t really listened to anything she’s done besides this album. I think you may recognize Pity Party because it samples part of a Leslie Gore song. I forget what the songs called, but I know you recently heard part of it in the Spn episode Ghostfacers 😂.

It was a very early season of The Voice. Somewhere in the single digits, lol. It's actually because of The Voice that I'm not really a fan of hers. In my opinion, she had a very limited voice while she was on the show, but that was a while ago, so maybe that's changed. I'll give this album a listen later tonight and see if it changes my mind

So, she was on season 3 of the Voice and made it to the top 6. I don't think she should have made it that far, but that's just my opinion. Onto the actual album. Dope music, I'm just not a fan of her voice. It looks like she was heavily involved in the songwriting process for this album, so she's clearly a gifted songwriter. I would definitely say that she's a better songwriter than a singer here. I'm a big fan of the drums/beat throughout the album. I would definitely listen to an instrumental version of this album for sure. I do recall that she was like 15 or 16 when she was on the Voice, so I had expected her voice to get better for this album, but it seems pretty much exactly the same as when she was on the show. The lyrics on this album tell an interesting story for her. Really just think she's limited vocally. Literally my only issue with her because her songwriting is actually quite good and the instrumentals throughout the album are really good

Yeah, if she could improve her range, that would do wonders for her. She could use different tones and textures, too

I wish you did the music videos there incredibly artistic and since its a concept album they each hold importance to each song and continue the story of the character being told through the songs.
