Open your mind to the possibilities, man

  • Evidence of intelligent alien life is found--so much evidence that it's front page material this time, not just 'News of the Wacky & Weird' 119
  • Scientists become able to detect the presence of some unknown force leaving our bodies when we die 21
  • Some oddball folk emerge who can legitimately move huge objects with their minds 10
  • A big, freaky cryptozooic specimen is found that completely disrupts our notion of the creatures that used to live on this planet 86

Okay, question #2 demands that you use all your powers of science and reason. I myself am running a little light on both. In fact, I still don't even understand how water heats up on a stove. The big flat circle starts glowing orange and the next thing I know, I have hot cocoa. But if I eat an actual orange, or put on an orange t-shirt, it doesn't burn. Someone's not telling me something important.

Sadly, I think none of these are really likely, except #1, but the evidence will be from a part of the universe so far away that the civilization will more than likely have died off millions of years before their message arrives. The evidence for number two would have been found by Macdougall back in the early 1900s when he did his spirit weighing experiments - plus, we do just die. For #3, I cannot imagine the property of either energy or matter that would allow someone without tech to move objects with their mind - that said, if we are talking WITH tech help, this has already happened as their are mind-controlled exoskeleton suits, etc. As for #4, just like the coelacanth, the okapi, and the giant squid, we would be all agog for a week, then shrug our shoulders and accept the new creature as part of scientific truth and go back to looking for Drop Bears. Sorry, boring, but I had to pitch in my two bits...thanks for the awesome question Soren, keep 'em coming.

You really gotta wonder how many more generations can keep the Bigfoot mystery alive without the boost of some much better movies.

I hard core believe in all the options, gotta keep the mystery alive!
