I knew at some point that I'd been rainbound one night a couple of years ago and recorded a narration of Stephen King's "Strawberry Spring" as a favor for a friend, and then it promptly vanished into the stygian wilds of my truly terrible file-naming system. But here it is, if you can't sleep some night. Always liked this one. I think I first came across it during a time when I was romanticizing what college would be like, so it truly stuck. Funny, to this day I love walking across college campuses on autumn Sundays, and whenever I drive past one I've never seen before, I always have an urge to stop and stroll across it.

Recently I was in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, and just after night fell I drove slowly past what used to be a private university long ago but is now something different, yet that campus look and feel remained. Except.... well, someone had thought it would be clever to fill the lampposts that lined the quad with bulbs that glowed deep orange. The whole scene, lit by that unusual glow, which to me felt quite eerie. I think it may have been close to Halloween, so.... needless to say, I did not get out of the car and walk that deserted landscape. I scare easily.

Thank you for doing this, it was a great trip! Haven’t read this story myself, even though Stephen King is my all time favourite writer. Loved to hear you read his stuff!

So thankful for this. I forgot how much I love King’s short stories. “Night Shift” is still such a classic, along with “Skeleton Crew”. I grew up reading both front to back over and over and over, etc. again. “Strawberry Spring” was always one of my favorites- and is actually the perfect King story for you to narrate... I could see it as an indirect influence / pre-cursor to the Knifepoint Horror concept. Thanks for this!
