This might not be interesting data to most of you but it's an interesting thing for me to look at. Sometimes I mistakenly think I could get away with the color layer pretty quickly but quite frankly there's a lot going on under there. You certainly couldn't publish a page at THIS particular level of quality but if I were to alter my process some it wouldn't be impossible to avoid lineart entirely.

Now, I think it wouldn't save much time and the loss to clarity would significantly alter the final effect of the pages. But I haven't figured out whether or not that would be bad in the end.


The Christmas page for Cassiopeia was done without "pen" lines but it was still done with lineart and shading. And it looks pretty good to me! But ultimately there's no shortcut to getting a good page. Hard work is still required by all methods I've tried.


But I can pick shorter ways to do pages while still getting them to a level of finish that I'm satisfied with.
