I've been trying to work out the story for a graphic novel I'm writing through sketching. I have 4 scrivener files going with different narrative arcs right now and am trying to get myself to start tightening things up. I have the basic plot so far but now Im getting into the subplots and how all the different characters will interact. Writing has been such a rewarding experience, every day I get closer to uncovering the mystery of what the story will be and its so exciting! Im only having trouble figuring out wether or not to publish this through an agent and with my name on my SFW account as a young adult graphic novel or keep it on the web under this account and be able to get into more adult themes. I still can't tell which would be better for the story. Right now with all the book banning and censorship in publishing, I feel like I might as well keep it online and possibly crowd fund so it's still available to everyone who is looking for a story like this. It's a little... unorthadox. Im going there, talking about women's health, menstrual misconceptions/ taboos and gender identity through the allegory of witchcraft and demigods. I guess time will tell. I have a literary agent willing to work with me but I would have to keep it suitable for what the publishing industry considers appropriate for young adult content. I feel like youth today know so much more than we give them credit for and censoring them from a taboo topics is just a way to isolate young adults who are dealing with these issues. I've spent my whole life censoring myself and I thing censoring my ideas for this story will be hypocritical to the message. Im going to keep on writing and see if maybe it could still be appropriate for the publishing industry. It won't be without controversy but, I'm not here to make friends with people who want to burn books and force people into the dark ages.
