Not to bring down the holiday/ new year vibe, but yeah... an admittedly incredible episode, killing off one of the best characters of the show, and definitely the most heart-wrenching episode of the show so far.

I still cry no matter how many times I've seen this episode. Such a real depiction of death. And from this point on, tonally, both Buffy, and Angel as well, are never quite the same. Some fans loved it; some fans hated it. I personally think the remainder of Season 5 from this point on is a masterpiece of television.

... "We're not drawing the object. We're drawing the negative space around the object." - Dawn's art teacher Anya is seen as the first representation for people with autism by many autistic fans ... not understanding quite emotions of people around, not getting on everybody's wavelength, but still feeling the same pain. ...Dawn's reaction to the news is what is going on inside of Buffy. This episode is harder to watch with every year passing. It was heartbreaking and beyond AMAZING the first time I saw it. The no music at all, the realism, the fact that anyone who has never watched the show at all can still watch this episode alone and appreciate it as much any fan of the show would, Tara and Willow having their very first kiss on camera... THIS is when fans first actually see them kiss... .... this episode gets way to real ...harder and harder to watch the older you get ...

This was such a great reaction, Nick! (I won't say I joined specifically to see this one early, but did I join to see this early?) The acceptance on your face when you said "It's just her body" at the end...it's so real. The lack of music, the departure from what we've known in previous episodes, the brutal realism...it hurts in a way few other episodes do. Absolutely one of the best and most difficult to watch episodes of television.

Buffy's "good luck" to the paramedics always kills me. Even in the midst of shock and her most painful moment, she finds time and energy to be compassionate.
