I knew something was off when Charlotte was wearing that night gown haha…then seconds later we see she’s been having an affair. That scene was very well played by the actress of Flora. So awkward and it’s so typical of parents to lie to their kids when in fact, children are more perceptive than most adults. It’s also why I find it pointless that Charlotte left Henry for the sake of the kids when she clearly doesn’t love her husband. Kids can usually sense when you’re faking so she’s not doing anyone any favours. But regarding Charlotte and Henry, I don’t condone infidelity, but I also know these things don’t just happen because people are plain selfish. It’s a self destructive act of denial just like any unhealthy vice. If it’s been going on for 6 years and her husband was never around then I get she would feel lonely. I don’t know if she ever voiced her discontent but the lack of communication and honesty usually comes long before the betrayal. It’s easy to blame Charlotte but a marriage is a two way street. It doesn’t break down on its own, even if your husband is “a nice guy.” All I see in situations like this is that these are just broken people and when people are not honest, it causes a lot of pain. But in terms of the parents’ death I don’t think they died the way we were told either and the creepy lake lady could be Charlotte…her long hair really reminds me of her. I think that the mystery of this show may hinge on Henry. I think if he can get to the manor many things will be revealed. Final point about Jamie…I don’t know what it is, but I didn’t feel emotionally invested in her backstory and again the way it was filmed felt stagey to me. I do like what she said about mortality and the moonflower though. There is something bittersweet about death…we fear it and yet life is meaningful because of it. That part was extremely well written. Anyway thanks for the reaction Thor! :) PS: I don’t think Rebecca means to possess Flora. It feels like she’s kind of being forced to.

I think it's interesting how quick people are to judge Charlotte and Henry when to me, I can see how difficult and complicated it might be when it comes to matters of the heart. we can't help who we fall in love with and honestly, Dominic was away a lot and he has some fault in this for sure since marriage is a partnership. there seems to have been a lot of miscommunication in their marriage, to begin with. I also am someone who believes that you can love more than one person at the same time so I do believe that Charlotte did love both Dominic and Henry. love, marriage, and family can be messy at times. maybe not always to this extreme and while I don't condone cheating I also don't completely condemn anyone in this situation and think that they are automatically bad people. I mean look at Henry for example. if he were truly a bad person, he wouldn't have listened to Dominic and stayed away after his death. he continues to support Flora and Miles, while still holding up his end of the deal which is to stay away from them, even while knowing that it makes him look like the biggest asshole on the planet. as for Charlotte, she was willing to make her marriage work even though she was still clearly in love with Henry. I don't think that she would have done that if she were truly a bad person. what I love about Flanagan is that he is so good at writing nuanced characters that have so much depth that you can't truly say they are "good" or "bad".
