Yeah a new Buffy episode. The last one of this year, I assume :) I´m hoping you are feeling better soon. The reaction really entertained me, I love your take on things that happen and that you are super into the story. :) Looking forward for future episodes. Wish you a happy new year :D

You didn't have to wait long at all for Giles' Dark Backstory! :-D Love your reactions, take care of yourself and feel better soon!

Thank you. Yes, I think the demon is dead. Giles is human and has a past. Who would've thought? lol :D There were touching moments in this one. Please get healthy! Take care. Thanks for uploading. Health comes first. :)

It was really cool to see your reaction to this. I tend to skip this with other reactors because it's a bit more of a stand alone ep and it has a sadder tone as you said. However, I enjoyed this a lot because we got to focus more on Giles and his past. Yes this ep shows how there are consequences to some of our past decisions but Giles was young. Not only was he young, but he was definitely hurting and feeling lost at that time as well. People can do crazy things in that state, even as an adult, and so I do have a lot of empathy for him. I don't personally blame him for his bad decisions in the past, the problem was the way he was letting the past affect him in the present (ie: not asking for help). Parents/ adult figures tend to want to uphold that perfect image because I assume they want to be seen as dependable. Giles has a lot of pride and has always prided himself as the responsible one. I also think his pride protects him because he does seem to carry a lot of shame from the past self that made those mistakes and so he is very hard on himself. No one is perfect, so I'm glad that at the end Giles had that heart to heart with Buffy about being human. As for Giles and Jenny...this ep seems run in a similar vein to Ep 7 about truth and lies. Is it better to lie to protect others? I'll need to remember to reference this episode in the future cause I do have more to say but I can't cause of spoilers :( - Anyway, get well soon Thor! Don't feel you have to rush back to filming. Take as long as you need to recover :)

Thor: "Don't tell me something is wrong with her." Me: Argh! Of course something is wrong with her. You just said "Don't let the goo touch you" and then we saw the goo touch her! Haha, so Infuriating, and so much why I enjoy watching your reactions. :-) Hope you get well soon. Thanks

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Great connection to LOTR. Similar themes. I remember my shock at this episode the first time. I was totally intrigued to find out Giles' past. Great reaction. Hope u are feeling better.

I’m so happy for Thor to finally see Giles backstory episode. Can’t wait for more reactions.

I hope you feel better soon, Thor! Please do keep an eye on your O2 saturation, just to be on the safe side. This episode is so very important in terms of lore and continuity and characterization that it always makes me wish a script editor had taken another pass or two through it. Or maybe, given that this script was actually written by the show's script editors, that they'd found an impartial third party to serve as editor for them. I mean, some of the lines in this one, especially Willow's, are just...oh dear. Just not lines that I envy any actor being called upon to deliver. That "Ah-hah! They thought it was Egyptian when any fool can see it's Etruscan!" line in particular always makes me cringe. Alyson Hannigan does her best with it, bless her, but even she can't manage to make that one sound at all natural. Ah well. Fortunately, I think that the strength of the subject matter largely makes up for the weaknesses in the script for this episode. It just always strikes me as a bit of a missed opportunity. Imagine how powerful this episode might have been, had it boasted a script as strong as Lie to Me's!

One of my main gripes is the time jumps that make no sense. Morning at school, Giles goes to the police station, then it's night and he's calling England. why tf didn't he do that earlier? Then it's morning when Buffy catches Ethan in the library, then a few scenes and by the time Giles and Jenny are at his apartment it's dark. Did he take her for a concussion check up? I mean, that would be the sensible thing to do but NOBODY seems to get concussion check ups in this show lol BUT I loved Giles before this episode and adored him afterwards, he just hit all my favourite tropes :) But Jenny, man she looked rough :'( can't blame her for wanting to back away tbh And yes, I think a LOT of it is shame. It's something he's carried around with him for 20 years. Not only the stupidity of the decisions he made but the fact that it caused his friend's death, in fact, they seem to have had to essentially kill Randall :'( But yes, I think it's normal for adults to want to shield kids for as long as possible from the realities of the world and that includes finding out about the realities of their past. Giles really thought Eyghon was gone, that he'd never have to worry about him again, and then - just as his life is really coming together - he's back and wrecking all his relationships (I'm sure he thought it would ruin his relationship with Buffy too).

Me: catching up drinking a beer. Buffy and Miss Calendar very concerned: "He was at home alone, drinking?!??" Me: 0_0
