Also, just to echo a couple of other comments… The show is a sequal to the completely less than stellar 80’s movie. Buffy was Joss Whedon’s idea the entire time, but the studio that created the movie completely butchered what he had envisioned and essentially made a laughing stock out of it. The show was his way of telling Buffy’s story, the way that he had intended it to be told. So that’s why when Flutie mentions she burned down the gym, he’s alluding to the events that took place in the film. Anyway… I’m gonna keep watching with you now! Nobody talk to me…. 😂

The show is based off/continuation of sorts of the 1992 movie. Even separate from the show, I personally think it’s worth the watch if you like this and the 90s vibes

@thor in the movie she's a senior in high school, they aged her down a bit for the tv series so they could get more seasons out of it

James and NTB didn't realise it was 7 seasons. Buffy fans usually get excited about the whole show so I think they felt the pressure to commit and they have limited time. I personally don't think Thor should be pressured either. If he can get up to Season 2 I'll be happy with that and then reevaluate.

Hey Nick, just finished watching this. I can’t thank you enough for giving this show a chance. So many of us were heartbroken when White Noise couldn’t continue. It gives me so many nostalgia feels, I love it! - I love how much the show makes you laugh. The fact you get the campy jokes brings me so much joy and sharing the laughter on those scenes is so much fun! - Buffy was from the 90s and I honestly miss this era of TV…it didn’t take itself too seriously. That opening montage is still so cool to me. - I’m also so glad you’re picking up on the more deeper tones of the show already (e.g: Buffy and the pressure and loneliness of the being a “hero”). The show is definitely fun but I also really love the acting especially SMG because she does comedy and drama so well. - When Buffy was roasting the vampire with the dated outfit…I swear I was rolling “you look like DeBarge” cracks me up every time 😂 - FYI - Darla, the one who bit Jesse is the same girl who bit the guy at the very beginning :)

YES. This sums up what I like so far. A dose of charm and cheese, but then some heart and seriousness as well (not an all-out parody). Great recipe so far for a fun series.

Yeah, the first few episodes have made me laugh quite a bit haha hopefully that doesn't get annoying (as I was editing I realized most of my reaction is just laughing). And yeah, I can't think of a contemporary show that really has this kind of tone, it reminds me a bit of films like the Mummy with Brendan Fraser: fun, campy, adventurous, and just a great way to laugh and have fun, with a few deeper moments sprinkled in.

Also, I didn't recognize Darla until I was editing as well for some reason, but thanks for filling me in. And I really hope that the show has more roasting from both Buffy and Cordelia, cause I just loved that

The first scene is so iconic because no one expects Darla to be the vampire. This show is all about subverting expectations and that first moment really sets up everything that the show is. Yeah, you're exactly right, that first scene set the tone for the show in a cool way. Funny, scary, subversive... a strong initial hook

Buffy is hands down my favourite show of all time. It’s an incredibly special & rare show. Buffy has just about has everything anyone would love to watch in a tv series in it. Best written dialogue ever. Have a blast watching it for the 1st time.
