This is definitely a funny Thanksgiving episode. Jennifer Aniston was married to Brad Pitt at this point, and the premise for his character is funny, but honestly, Ross and Phoebe are the funniest ones to me in this episode. They are hilarious.

Answering your question, in my country we don't have Thanksgiving, but turkey is a must during Christmas, but I do think is a little bit overrated, but my mom will always make it and since we're a small family we'll have tons of leftovers and I'll be eating turkey till new year's eve hahahhahaha loved your reactions as always and I learned about Thanksgiving because of Friends 😂

Kim McSharry

I love turkey! But my in-laws don't care if there's turkey or not on Thanksgiving, so they make a turkey breast that's mostly just for me.

Emily G

I love this thanksgiving episode it has to be in my top 2 or 3!

About expensive fashion, I just recently saw a jacket from Balenciaga that costs $9,500 dollars - that's like 6 months of mine and my roomie's rent xD Crazy as hell xD Also, The Police was a band, yes, that Sting fronted. Love the "Ross can!" play on the song Roxanne xD Genius xD And yes, that was Sting's real life wife.

Rich H

I like turkey just fine, but prefer chicken. And for Christmas, my family usually has lasagana! :-)

JenM

I like turkey fine, but also find it to be overrated. My dad loved it though and he used to get so excited about cooking it every Thanksgiving (he was the chef in the family). So there’s a lot of nostalgia and good memories of him I associate with it . Not to mention all the great leftovers. I actually prefer cold turkey leftover sandwiches to hot turkey on Thanksgiving.

I've never been a big fan of Brad Pitt as an actor nor have I ever understood why he's considered so attractive (I'm not blind but he just never did it for me), but I absolutely love him in E9! Especially since he wasn't used to being on a sitcom, I thought he did a great job. His delivery on the line "Typical. Rachel Green. Queen Rachel does whatever she wants in her little Rachel land" and the flick killls me every time 🤣 Of course, what made this even funnier is the fact that he and Jennifer Aniston were married at the time (they had been married for about a year and a half when the episode aired). Brad was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance. Fun fact: While promoting the episode, NBC didn't mention Brad and even blurred his face in ads while teasing a high-profile guest star. Though it had previously been reported that he would appear in the season and most media outlets correctly predicted he was the mystery guest star. Entertainment Weekly incorrectly reported that he would appear in flashback scenes wearing a fat suit. Also, Brad's character is named Will. His full name is William Bradley Pitt. The rumour storyline drew criticism from the Intersex Society of North America, a member of which wrote a strongly-worded letter of complaint to NBC, calling the episode "ignorant, insulting, degrading and absolutely unprofessional". The member urged the network to learn about intersex individuals via the Society's website and read an on-air apology before future episodes. When I was younger the "The Police? A reunion?" went over my head because I didn't know it was an actual band Sting was in 😂 Btw, Phoebe was parody-ing The Police's song Roxanne. Also, that IS Sting's actual wife, Trudie Styler. They are still married and have 4 kids. They do have a son named Jake but he was born in 1985 which would make him 10 years older than Ben. However, the show is actually referring to their son, Giacomo ('Jack' in Italian), NOT their older son Jake. Giacomo would be Ben's age as he was born in 1995. I've never bought shoes or clothes of any kind that costs that much and I don't understand why anyone would ever do that. Also, this is the exact reason I don't wear heels or generally don't wear clothes that make me uncomfortable in spite of society's standards on women especially to look good and "sexy". The ones who invented things like heels and bras must've just hated women! Goofs/Contuinity errors: Monica could've just cooked a small turkey for her, Joey and Ross. And to answer your question, we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving in Iceland and turkey is not very common but the few times I've had it I've liked it (even had some Thanksgiving dinners at my church). But I'm more for chicken and other types of meat though. Since Monica and Chandler's wedding was in May and Rachel got pregnant a month before, at Thanksgiving she should be over 7 months along and "showing" much more than she is. Rachel says that she and Ross went out for two years, but in actuality they were together for a year (they were celebrating their one year anniversary when all the shit happened). And technically, Dina and Bobby's "wedding ceremony" has witnesses: Joey and Rachel. But it's still not legal without a marriage license.

I’m glad you mentioned if Brad Pitt was dating Jennifer Aniston at the time. They were either dating or married at the time. Such a good episode! I couldn’t wait for you to get through Season 7 to this one. It’s a favorite!! Thanks!

Sage Martinez

I’m like Phoebe, a vegetarian 😁😁😁

Jennifer and Brad were introduced to each other by their managers in the mid to late nineties and then they were set up on a blind date in 1998 by someone in one of their camps. Not sure if it was a manager or publicist etc but they knew both actors and thought they would like each other. Brad was already a well known actor having been in movies during the nineties including Fight Club, Se7en and Oceans 11. They were married in 2000 and this episode aired in November 2001. I remember seeing him on an interview that when he was out of town filming or something, he would watch an episode of Friends to see Jennifer. Then rumors started circulating about Brad and Angolina Jolie while they were filming Mr and Mrs Smith in 2004. Brad and Jen divorced in 2004

Yesssss I made a big unnecessary purchase. For my 30th birthday I bought myself a Dolce & Gabbana wallet for $500. 😅

I love these two episodes! The Thanksgiving ones are always so good and Joey was so funny in E10 - so many good lines! I’m not a huge Brad Pitt fan but I love how his guest role is very unlike anything we had really seen from him at that point in his career. Regarding the boots vs. rent convo, I’m assuming Monica’s rent wasn’t too terribly high considering at one point she was unemployed and it was while Rachel was a waitress and they still somehow managed to get by. That’s always been the most unrealistic part of the show for me - the size of apt they afforded based on their jobs. It’s also mentioned early in the series that she took it over from her grandmother and don’t forget Mr Treager threatened to tell the landlord about the illegal subletting to get them evicted in S4. All that said, I’m fairly certain the apartment was rent controlled. Great reaction as always!!

Tara

I would love to see bloopers or BTS rehearsal for this episode. I’m sure it was fun to have Brad’s character hate Rachel since they were married and if you notice, he was even listed in the closing credits. I bought a $200 jean jacket because it had a painted sunset on the back with. I don’t think I ever wore it because I was afraid the paint would come off.

Ana Ignat

I have been waiting for the reaction for these two episodes so much😂I also joined the club when I first saw the Thanksgiving episode or at least join Phoebe to talk French behind the dumpsters😂😂😂

JennaB

I don't know how much rent was back when this was filmed but whatever it was, Monica was paying less because she was subleasing her grandma's rent control apartment. If I remember correctly. We were told that in the episode where Joey practiced ballroom dancing with the building super.

Sofia W

As a non-American, i didn’t try turkey before I was maybe 15 years old, and it was the best thing I had ever tried 😂 it was wrapped in bacon, and I literally think about it 10 years later, totally get Joey on the turkey hype haha

Gabrielle

im new to the patreon so glad i joined i couldnt wait any longer to see the other reactions to friends, i strongly recommend reacting to 'New Girl' if you get a chance once you have finished friends, its one of my favourite sitcoms ever, SO hilarious, very similar comedy to friends and all of the characters have such a hilarious unique personality!

Susan Stork

I love this Thanksgiving episode. So funny. I am not a fan of Brad pitt, and I don't understand the attraction to him; but I admit he is hysterical in this episode. I enjoy the other episode as well, and yes that is Sting''s real wife. I am a huge fan of Sting and definitely get the attraction to him, he's still Hot!

ben

ham>turkey

Kelly

I don’t think their rent was too much because they only had three walls…🤷🏻‍♀️

Genevieve Cornn

We smoke our Thanksgiving Turkey and it is amazing but my husband also makes ham because a lot of people don't care for turkey. The main reason to have turkey is the leftovers!

Mary Kate

Monica's apartment belonged to her grandma and was rent controlled, so it's very possible it's under $1000 for her rent. Boots like that could easily be over $1000 so that line makes total sense to me. I adore that Thanksgiving episode but in retrospect it's not cool the way it makes fun of intersex people. I wish the rumor could've been something else. YAMS!!!!

Sting was a member of the band The Police. The Police were a British-American rock band formed in London in 1977.[1] Within a few months of their first gig, the line-up settled as Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar, primary songwriter), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion), and remained unchanged for the rest of the band's history. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston were married here. season 8 came out in 2001, when 9/11 happened which is why they had to change the Monica&Chandler honeymoon episode. Pitt and Anniston were married since 2000 until 2005. in 2022, Aniston gave rare comments in an Allure cover story, sharing for the first time that she struggled with her fertility and underwent IVF. “I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” Aniston said, reflecting on her 30s and 40s. “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.” In her Allure interview, Aniston said the media’s narrative that she “was just selfish” and “just cared about my career” was painful. “God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child,” she said in 2022. “And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies.” Aniston — who typically keeps her personal life private, but has publicly spoken about her fertility journey — also wrote about Vance’s far-right stance on reproductive rights. “All I can say is… Mr. J.D.Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston wrote in her post. “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

50 year old woman made out with a high school boy - is that statutory rape?

Viera Galikova

do you think a 50 year old woman sexually abusing an underage Ross was a good choice for comedy?i don't get Americans. so much talk about paedos and about protecting minors and then you teach the entire world to laugh at the victims.

Viera Galikova

Pitt and Anniston are ok here. 50 year old woman sexually abusing two high schoolers ruins it for me. ... i don't get Americans. so much talk about paedos and about protecting minors and then you teach the entire world to laugh at the victims.

Kelly

Oh I agree with you on that. Today, I don’t think it would be like that, but it’s hard to understand that it ever was. And realistically, if the older person was a male and the high schoolers were female, it would have been a whole different conversation…

Heida

I didn't even mention that so I don't get why you're asking me. But no, I don't think it's okay.

Viera Galikova

hope you'll react to the video "Sexual Assault of Men Played for Laughs" ....

April Nicole

I must be the only person in the comments who hates turkey lol. I prefer lamb, beef or chicken lol
