199 - Kursk: Soviets Dig-In for Blitzkrieg - WW2 - June 18, 1943

The Soviets have put civilians to work by the hundreds of thousands, building line after line of defenses in the Kursk Salient, where they are sure the Germans are soon to attack. Meanwhile the Allies are making moves in preparations for two big upcoming offensives of their own- in Sicily and the Central Solomon Islands. Feels like there is a lot to watch and cover this week with the regular weekly episode and the other ongoing miniseries on the Vatican's role during the war. Thank you team for all the hard work, it must have not been easy juggling so many at the same time!

Another great episode with anticipation of the Battle of Kursk.

Here's a suggestion regarding what USMC units are called. Division numbers are always followed by the word 'division', as in First Division, Second Division, etc. Sometimes they are also followed by 'Marine Division', or, in a shortened, 'MarDiv', such as First MarDiv, or 1st MarDiv. They are never, ever followed by just the word 'Marine'. If anyone familiar with the Marine Corps or Marine History uses the phrase 'First Marines', as Indy did in this episode when referring to the First Marine Division, they are referring to the First Marine Regiment (which is a regiment of the First Marine Division). This is an important nuance to get right as the war in the Pacific heats up, since there may be times you are referring to, for instance, a fight involving Cates' First Marine Regiment at Guadalcanal as part of the First Marine Division. You can see how Marine Corps history buffs can question when the correct terminology isn't used.

Every time one thinks that the Nazis have reached the absolute rock-bottom of morality, they seem to be able to pull out a pickaxe and dig a little deeper.

This is hard to follow sometimes. A lot of information, but especially the actual content. Human lives lost. Still Indy and Spartacus are "must" watch.
