This week at TimeGhost a lot of the crew is getting ready to come together for our next filming session, which starts on the 1st of February. The first one since (spoiler alert) we wrapped up our filming of Stalingrad and Guadalcanal coverage. It means there will be a lot of other subjects that we can get down to in even deeper detail. Oh, and this is also part 1 of a two part weekly episode. Part 2 should drop in the next few days.

179 - Time to Fire Rommel? - WW2 - January 29, 1943

The Allies are unable to win in Tunisia, though further east Bernard Montgomery has achieved his goal of driving the enemy out of Libya. To the west, the Casablanca Conference comes to its end and the Allies write a list of their war priorities. The Soviets, however, are on the move everywhere, closing in on Stalingrad, and launching new operations up and down the eastern front, to the dismay and detriment of the Axis forces. I was thinking about it today and there is an absence of the political affairs of the minor axis powers. I think it would interesting to have a summary of the goings on inside countries like Romania and the general feelings of their populaces towards the war as it progress's.

Love your work gang but funny story! Not going to say what school or district in the states (to protect the teacher) but my eldest had a history test and the one question was who was the German general at Stalingrad and my daughter put as her answer General Friedrich Jose Paulius and her teacher gave her extra credit with a TGA next to the answer! Not sure if he is a supporter or a fan on YouTube but it made us both laugh! Your touching schools in the states keep up the great work!

Because finding someone just as good will be child's play...

Rommel's propaganda value remained irreplaceable, to the chagrin of his colleagues and superiors, but finding a replacement who was better operationally and strategically and also had less ego was indeed child's play.

Another great week packed with action, which point the way to total axis defeat.

2 weekly ww2 episodes, the homefront and WAH all excellent . Thanks for tons of awesome, awesome material. And all the best in busy February:-)

Very good question. To me personally the way Uranus and subsequent operation went for the minor Axis team members i can see now why they very well might quit in the near future. They all suffered huge casualties and were looked own upon by the Germans, guess what the Germans confiscated (wel stole) Italian motorized transports. This was an eye-opener for me in this week by week format!

Good point indeed, Seonac. In Hungary, the defeat at the Don river is still a big deal nowadays, they keep remembering it and bringing it up, there are some monuments etc. Would be nice to know what was being said in Hungary back then.

I'd like to see everything that goes on. The research, the writing, the filming, the editing, etc.

If you do another Breakfast Club I'd love a 'go around' the table asking everyone which languages they speak. And how do all the presenters, particularly Indy pronounce all the variety of names and locations with such fluency, from Asia to Africa and all the variety of European countries.

Could we have a regular episode showing the general mindstate of hitler now that he's in his downward decline? It would be awesome to have a check in every year to see how the deterioration progresses and how it affects certain decisions made in the war.
