Sweden abolished slavery in 1945?

Sweden is often viewed as, and prides itself as a historical bastion of social equality and progressive politics, but it was also one of the last countries in Europe to fully abolish institutionalized slavery. I enjoy these very much! I don’t enjoy the rigamarole that Patreon puts me through to log on.

I forgot to add that I enjoy the short format presentations.

Interesting. I have lived all my life in Sweden, and I knew about the existence of the statare-system and that it was really not fun to be a statare. I did not know that, by todays standards, it could be classified as slavery. Interesting format these shorts.

According to Wikipedia, "In 1962, all slavery practices or trafficking in Saudi Arabia was prohibited. "

I met the guy sitting on one side of the negotiating table in 1945 and shook hands on the deal. A truly historic moment.

I love the sort videos with a touch of humor added to history. The regular series are real life, hard, and painful. Decisions to sacrifice thousands and millions in various ways is not funny and you treat it seriously. Looking for fun in history, I love the home front, spies, and these shorts to lighten it up a little. Excelsior.

Love these shorts with Ollie and Sven (obscure Flintstones reference). They are the light length down my daily commute, allowing me to watch the longer episodes at home.

My gosh everything I ever knew about Sweden was a lie. Is Ikea even a real store?? Where did all my furniture actually come from?
