This week at TimeGhost, Indy looks a little like a peppermint. So to the TimeGhost Army Brigadier who was asking in the WhatsApp group what everyone's thoughts are on peppermint items: will this suffice as an answer?

In other news, one of you sent us in this video from 1933 on oil production in Baku. As it was such a good find we might end up using it to help with the visuals in one of our upcoming episodes. Seeing as this week is all about the campaign for southern Russia's oil, we thought the rest of you would enjoy this watch as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG1150vH77E

Finally, we are going to try send you an email using Mail Chimp as the Patreon email function still isn't working, so let us know if you get that email alright.

See you next week!

163 - Stalingrad Thunderdome: Paulus vs. Chuikov! - WW2 - October 9, 1942

Things are looking pretty grim for Vassily Chuikov's 62nd Army in Stalingrad this week, as the German 6th Army launches its biggest series of attacks so far. The Axis are unable to get anywhere in the Caucasus, though, and the American Marines win a local victory over the Japanese on Guadalcanal, but everyone's thoughts there are on reinforcing and more reinforcing. I was wondering what happened to my Wednesday emails, was just about to inquire, but I guess others were more anxious about it, eh? I got two emails today, one from timeghosttv with the link to this video, and one from Patreon with the "Email Update." Now to watch the video.

Received the Mailchimp email and thank you. You certainly work hard to make this channel a success, truly the Georgy Zhukov of websites!

Suggestion for out of the foxes : it would be great to address the myth “enemy at the gates” that the Soviet only had 1 rifle for two men. While it seems to me that it could have been possible in Moscow in 1941, what you seem to show quite clearly is that the Soviet in 1942 was a much more trained and sophisticate strategically army to use wave of unarmed soldiers as shown in the mentioned movie.

I never dreamed, since my childhood days of checking out my school’s copy of “Flying Fortress” by Edward Jablonski multiple times, that my passionate interest in World War II could be so enriched as it has been since finding your channel. I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoy your TimeGhost stories. Now in my late fifties, they are the highlight of my days each and every week. Thank you, thank you, and please keep up the good work!
