Life for Women in 1921 (Patreon)
Content
It's quite fitting that today's episode is being released on Patreon on March 8th, International Women's Day, as there are many positive and negative developments in the lives of women during the harvest of 1921.
In the US, despite significant initial opposition, an act providing significant federal support for safer childbirth is passed by congress. In Sweden, the social democrats become the largest party after the first election in which Swedish women could vote. In England there not so much progress, as the Football Association bans women from playing on affiliated football pitches and declares that the sport is "unsuitable for females".
Looking back we see that progress has been made in the last 100 years, but it's important to remember that these changes were taking place only a few grandmas ago.
Happy International Women's Day!
