This week, Japan sees impressive victories in the air and ground all across south-east Asia. The use of bicycle units allows for fast and powerful Japanese pushes through the Malayan forest without overstretching supply lines, while the sky above the Philippines is all but abandoned by the Allies. The high seas are not going much better for the Allies, with defeats in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean.

This being said, not all is well for the Axis powers: in Eastern Europe the German line is at risk of plunging into free fall, if the Soviet Union plays its cards right. Fearing this, and fearing the lack of serious fallback position, Hitler has assumed personal command of the German military and ordered all forces to hold their positions.

What do you think? How close is the Soviet Union to dealing the Germans a decisive blow? Has Hitler made a wise decision to assume command and order forces to halt? Why does it seem that Japan is doing so well in pushing the Allies out of Asia, and what can stop them now?

The Japanese are unstoppable everywhere - WW2 - 121 - December 19, 1941

The Japanese make gains in Malaya, Burma, Hong Kong, Borneo, and the Philippines. The Allies also have trouble in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, where they are beginning to seriously suffer from a lack of capital ships. The Soviet Red Army is advancing, though, and Stalin takes personal control of planning for the upcoming counteroffensive, while Adolf Hitler takes personal control of the German Army. And the best thing is, the USA is sure to tolerate all this because of our brilliant blow at Pearl Harbor!
