This week the Germans are advancing on all fronts, despite the harsh late October climate.

They’re closing the Bryansk pocket, but the Red Army is still causing problems for Guderian.

In Moscow, martial law is declared, defenses are still being built, and Stalin refuses to leave as German troops are closing in.

As for atrocities, no less than three massacres are carried out by the Nazis within days.

In other news:

Japan is on the path to war in the SOuth Pacific with new PM Hideki Tojo at the helm

And an until now undetected super spy meets their fate...

So where is the promised Bio special about Sorge?

Please do a special about the Japanese preparations and lessons learned from the war in China before we get to Pearl Harbor. The Japanese forces.... The Army and Navy, are not the same troops from 1937 or 1939. The idea that the Japanese were tactically unsophisticated and that their competency could be ignored because they were only fighting the "weak" Chinese took hold in the west and it is a big part of what's about to happen to Allied forces after Pearl Harbor It would also be good to talk about what the Chinese army learned about fighting Japan and their overall situation on the eve of the entrance of the Western Allies as the Chinese are going to be the only ones who have any success against Japan in the next 5 months.

Great episode, thanks for all the hard work. Though I would say the "swoosh" sound effects I think don't add much and are a little distracting. Looking forward to your future coverage of the war.

Ha! I also try to use your wonderful videos in my classes. The War Against Humanity episode about Le Bon's influence on strategic bombing was very useful in Social Psychology. Spartacus, last week you taught Marketing (out of all things, right?! :)) ) students in Bucharest and you did a great job! :) I also plan to use the episode on Stalin's refusal to acknowledge the coming Nazi invasion in a Critical Thinking class (this time for Computer Science students). Online teaching does suck, generally, but the ability to use great work like yours makes it much better. Thank you so much!
