I'm typing this from the road, as me and Wieke are driving to Southern Germany to film the next six episodes of World War Two as well as some new Between Two Wars episodes. Filming  usually takes half an hour for one episode, but overall filming +- 15 episodes in a week is pretty demanding for Indy and the crew. That, and because researching and writing the scripts takes a lot of time, is why we film roughly once every six weeks. If you all have any questions regarding the production side of things, we'd be happy to answer them here! After all, you are our financing the show. We'll always be at your service!

Cheers,

Joram

Will Britain Remain?!? - WW2 - 041 - June 8 1940

As the battle for France is still raging but looks like a ringing victory for Nazi Germany, and the encircled troops in Dunkirk have been evacuated, will Great Britain remain in the war? If so will British forces remain in continental Europe? In fact will Great Britain even be able to remain an independent nation, or also fall to the Nazis? Great Episode! I think this may come up in the Between Two Wars series when they cover the beginning of the war in China, but it might be worth reiterating in the WW2 series as well. Namely Japanese war goals for China. The Japanese never planned for the apocalyptic war of conquest with China. What they had been quite successfully doing up until 1937 was biting off bits of China's sovereignty piece by piece. Their end goal was never the full occupation of China (unlike say the German goals in the Soviet Union). The Japanese instead were looking somewhere else for inspiration. They wanted China to be to Japan what India was to the British. India had 350 million people and the British were able to control it with a functioning, loyal local government and less than 100,000 British troops in the whole country. India was economically controlled for British benefit and served as a crucial cog in the British empire. Japan wanted the same from China... they wanted a compliant Chinese state run by locals with mostly local troops, but working for the benefit of Japan. Japan's end goal did not have them directly governing territory in China. It determined a lot of the conduct of the war with Japan always seeking to do enough damage and capture what ever territory they thought might force a surrender. At the same time, it also meant that Japan fought the war incrementally. The taking of territory was not usually strategic and Japan would find itself directly governing huge tracts of territory with hundreds of millions of people without any real plan as their goal had always seen a compliant Chinese government as the entity doing the direct governing. It's good how it talks about Chiang Kai Shek and Japan's attempts to negotiate but context of how much Japan needed the government of China to formally admit defeat would be welcome.

Please use correct punctuation. What is "?!?" even supposed to mean? If it is a question, use "?" if it is an exclamation (I don't think so) use "?!". The only people I know, who use this kind of punctuation are borderline analphabets. You are an educational channel and no instagram models.

Literally ROFL. You are absolutely right. It is an exclamatory question, and we will correct it straight away. Thank you.

Your Churchillian impression and delivery are rather good. I'd like to see some Out of the Foxholes introduced with that voice!

Well done as always!

The quality of your videos get better every episode. It‘s great that you use more video material instead of just pictures.
