Dear Patrons,

Now that we're in the end phase of putting out The Cuban mIssile Crisis, we're starting to focus on the future. We have two big steps coming in the next couple of weeks.

1. We will launch our new format the "World Dicktionary" in the week of December 11th - this will be one of our first weekly formats that come in between chronological documentaries like "The Cuban Missile Crisis." Without revealing too much, it's about historical dicks...  Our TimeGhost Genie Patrons will receive more information in a separate post tomorrow - we'd love to hear what you think as we prepare the format.

2. As you might have seen in the video from last week, we will launch our Kickstarter campaign. While your contribution and participation here on Patreon is the most important way for us to build TimeGhost into something really great long term, we want to pick up speed and make sure that we can put all of our effort into making great program now. Moreover we're hoping that we can raise enough money to start at least one new multi-year series as The Great War winds down end of next year.

As you have probably heard my old comany paid the tab when we started The Great War - in sum we committed € 225,000 to launch the program. The money was used to pay the costs until we were generating enough support and ad revenue for TGW to be stable and secure. We had a hard cap on how much we could do each month with that money, limiting the scope of the program in the beginning. It was the support on Patreon that enabled the series to grow and make more diverse content like travelling to WWI sites and so on. With Kickstarter we want to replace that initial financial injection so that we can retain our independence this time around.

Based on the feedback from our viewers we have focused on two potential topics for year long real time series: the Korean War and WWII. Now, we will not do these on an even year anniversary as with TGW, but we will do them in real time and weekly as with TGW.

Independent on if we manage to get any, or both of those off the ground we will continue our weekly program and our quarterly chronological documentaries.

On Sunday December 3rd we will be holding a marathon live stream with an Ask Me Anything on Reddit to make sure that e get as much attention as possible for the kickstarter campaign,

We will inform you more on the Kickstarter camping in the coming days.

We're also working on our website to set our forums up and give you guys preferred access to great variety of things - we'll get back to developments in that area in the next few days. Until that is set up we will use Patreon for communication...

At the end of this month you will a also all receive the first postcard from the past ;-)

Last, but not least we will start preparing for the first vote to set the TimeGhost clock for the next quarter - that will be the program that follows on The Cuban Missile Crisis, early 2018. For this we will make a special post in the next days to those of you that will be be involved.

Thank you for being a TimeGhost - let's make history!

I just saw your kickstarter anouncement on YouTube. It seems to me that right now, the future of the project mostly depends on the kickstarter campaign, so I am thinking about cancelling Patreon and instead pledge the patreon sum for the next two years on kickstarter. I might resume the Patreon after the two years, of course. Would that help you or should I stay on Patreon?

Dear Andreas - we look at Patreon and Kickstarter as two different actions. While we believe that Patreon is the long term solution for building a viable community around our projects, we need to insert some speed at this point. Moreover we did the math and concluded that if were going to do WWII, which loads of people are requisition, Patreon alone won't do it, so we decided to at least give it a fair chance. First of all: we don't want to lose you in our community and should you choose to support the project via Kickstarter instead, we will of course make sure you have the same benefits, or more. Second of all you are correct that at this point Kickstarter is very important, it's especially important to keep traction in the growth of pledges on Kickstarter for the next thirty days. In any case - we are most grateful for your support!
