I made it last Sunday and froze them for my lunches this week and it held up fine. I think it tasted amazing even reheated.

Can I put frozen chicken in crockpot?

Anonymous

I always do- that's the only way I do it because I work all day. I put frozen in the morning around 7 am and then get home and finish around 4 pm. If it wasn't frozen, the chicken would be super dried out.

Yes! So excited for this one. I loved the lemon orzo one, I still have one portion in the freezer. Gonna make this one while I'm off next week and freeze.

Yum. Excited to try this!

When you stored these, did you find that the tortellini continued to absorb liquid? I make a sausage, spinach and tortellini soup and have just had to store the tortellini separately and add it in when I'm gonna heat it up in order to prevent this.

Yumm!!!

I honestly didnt feel like it did, but for meal prep purposes, you could definitely store them separately and just add the day of 👍

Why not just cook the pasta in the liquid in the crockpot?

Anonymous

I'm guessing this would keep and reheat better if you keep the pasta separate until you reheat. I find pasta & rice get mushy if they set in the liquid too long. So, I'll probably put them in mason jars and portion the pasta separate. :)

If I was doing this on the stove top (with rotisserie chicken) would i just combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil? Then add in my cooked chicken and pasta?

zachcoen

Yes that should be fine. Maybe let it simmer for a while covered to let those flavors dance around a bit :)

Made this yesterday, it is really good!

Is this frozen or regular pasta?

zachcoen

I used the regular but I'd imagine frozen would work just as well.

Made this last night, and the whole family really enjoyed it. I did use my InstaPot rather than crockpot, and I cooked the tortellini in the pot (2 min under pressure). While I lost a good amount of broth - it was VERY tasty! So glad I found this site and all it's "normal" foods. My family doesn't even realize we are being healthier!

Will this be fine to freeze?
