smth positive_

It’s peak time Ried is actually the very first swort saint from 400 years ago he didn’t shorten Reinhard Also god I love your yapping never stop yapping the way you do ever Another fun fact in the web novel aka the rough draft it was Sekhmet the witch of Sloth who appeared but for some reason Tappei the writer of Re:Zero changed it in the Light novel which is the final version the anime adapts to Minerva

Matter

IT'S TIME FOR PEAK RE:ZERO LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Daniel Borrego

what he was trying to do was a bit of a trope from some of the isekais. flour can be very violitile when too much powder is in the air.

Umbra_Nex

Dust explosions can be made with any fine particulants in the air. In school, our teacher did it with flour (yep, the stuff you make bread with can make an explosive!), which I assume is what he used here. The problem *probably* was that the ratio of dust to air was not right (if its too little or too thick in the air, it wont explode), although there could be an element of alternate-world means different physics. Thanks for another great reaction! I was so hyped for you to see this episode especially. It is SO good, so Im glad you guys loved it too! Edit: science is wild.

Wiznoot123

Peak episode. Funniest thing I’ve seen ever commented about in this episode. Rems confession: there’s birds flying, it’s nice and sunny out, the air is sparking, the man she confesses to hugs her. Rams confession: there’s fire everywhere, shits going to hell, ram is half dead, the man she confesses to hits her with a giant fire ball. To be fair to Rem in the post episode discussion, Subaru has given his life for her and he does love her now and considers her and Emilia the same just in different ways. But Ram……. yeahhhh. Also Garfiel this episode >>>>>>>>>>>

ThaDoubleB

"I'm don't feel worried about Ram, Puck and Roswaall. I feel like it wouldn't harm me emotionally as much as the other two." Ram: *confesses her love and then gets nuked*

The episode we've all been waiting for, ever since the Minerva theory came out... AND IT DIDN'T DISAPPOINT HAHAHAHAAHA I was looking forward to your theories on the "foreshadowing" of the future. Sadly it got postponed for next episode's intro. I hope you guys won't forget to add it there! I was expecting Ben to bring up Archi in the Minerva theory. He is blond, and he calls Emilia his sister. So, if he is blonde AND Emilia's brother, then he can be Minerva's son too.

Chester

Wow, I never even considered that as a possibility... that's totally my headcanon now. Still, his eyes are really green... like, suuuper green... not sure where he'd get that from.

Joseph Joestar

Note for the moderators about a mistranslation: The subs make it look like Roswaal was directly responsible for wiping out the village, but it was more like he *let it happen* (much like how he let the events of Arc 3 happen, leading to the loss of Rem) rather than causing it himself.

Joseph Joestar

Also, the intensity of Ram's feelings was probably affected by Rem's erasure (indirectly caused by Roswaal). In a way, part of Ram's change can be attributed to Roswaal himself (since with Rem gone, Roswaal becomes the most important figure in her life), which is ironic given his whole belief in stagnation and nothing ever changing :)

Chester

Regarding Emilia's confusion at Echidna's grave, Beatrice's flashback scenes are where you can find a hint about that. Speaking of her, Ben... the time is coming for your love for Echidna to be put to the test. Next episode, will you notice "that" thing that most people don't? I want to believe in you...

ThaDoubleB

I too believed that her affection for Roswaal was in large part due to Rem's absence, but I just finished reading volume 3 of the LN's and it is pretty clear Ram is deeply "in love" with Roswaal. There's even a line where Ram thinks she could not definitively say Rem is first in her heart. This is after Roswaal calls her and her sister useful "pawns" straight to her face. Maybe, Rem's absence does strengthen it a bit, but I really think it moreso makes her not worried about Rem being killed by Roswaal if she attempts to destroy the "Gospel". I'm pretty sure she was just unintentionally or intentionally groomed by Roswaal. The daily nighttime mana-transfers that keep Ram alive probably also have something to do with it.

Rezero continues to be incredible past this season and i can't wait for yall to see it. Still haven't animated my fav arc.

ThaDoubleB

I'm also on board the train that Minerva is Emilia's mother. If you go back and watch Emilia at the very start of ReZero she acts EXACTLY like Minerva. We know that she seemingly gets her elf heritage from Fortuna's brother, which would stand to reason that her mother would be human. Emilia's design is extremely similar to that of Minerva. They both act like they are evil or self-serving to hide how absolutely kind and selfless they all are. Healing with punches is exactly the type of power that would suit a personality similar to Emilia's. But then also it IS almost too obvious...

ThaDoubleB

I don't think she was using brother literally. She also called Fortuna and Geuse her "mother" and "father". Think that is more the role he had in her life rather than a blood relation, but I guess there's no reason they couldn't technically be related either.

Austin D

does rezero have the record for most times Ben has said "one of the best episodes of this series" during an anime lol?

BleachBoy18

It's actually been a sour point for a while - while the JP voice actors get context on the characters before the recording and will have multiple of the cast at the same time recording, the EN voice actors usually do NOT and unlike the JP they usually bring the in one at a time to record even convos seperately. That is many times why the EN dub is so inferior sadly. I think recently maybe there have been some changes but that's historically how things work.

Rafael Souza

ThaDoubleB -> I don't believe it either, its probably just a Japanese thing, to call close older dudes as older brother, but it is theory material that I thought they would have brainstormed about

L.C.

In my opinion this is THE best episode of the series so far. They fit in so much PEAK into one episode and it all worked out great. Season 1 of rezero made me think "maybe this is an alright anime" and season 2 of rezero after almost every episode being peak made me love the series.

Zipzip

Ben is being too harsh on himself. His The Boys prediction was also fire.

Mandatory comment for the mods: Ask them if they would like to react to the teaser and potential trailer (march 24) after episode 25 to round of the reactions until S3. Now for how Elsa's condition works, if you plan to watch the Re:Zero break time episodes, then do not read further as its actually explained there in episode 24. She is not actually a vampire but she uses a curse on herself. As the result of the original curse turns the target into a mindless doll and as it was once witnessed drinking blood, it got labeled as a vampire. The curse (Curse Doll) turns the caster immortal until the target he/she wants to kill, dies. Then the caster dies too, on top of it upon casting the curse the caster loses his sense of self with the only urge left to kill said target. Elsa uses a modified version of that curse which lets her keep her sense of self. But there are limitations as the losing yourself (not eminem) part gets triggered like russian roulet style upon "death". The curse is activated by edging a rune into your body which holds informations about the target you want to kill. This actually happend in this episode/next episode but was not included in the anime. When she was squished by the hippo, the curse triggered and she became a curse doll. She would later chase Subaru around the mansion and it was described as a mangled body crawling around like a spider. As they did not include that whole sequence, very likely due to runtime constraints, they left it at the "vampire" stuff and removed the explanation from Elsa (put it into the re:zero break time) and removed the whole chase sequence in ep 24.

Vali Sippola

Amazing reaction as usual. I really hope someone tells them abt the breaktime series, they’d actually get so much out of it.

Mitschiro

The reason why we're all so focused on Minerva and hope she is Emilia's mother, is so we can call her Mommy. That's it, mystery solved.

Justin_IVIX

Unless someone is stupid enough to lift the hippo to check, who cares if Elsa is dead or alive under there.

Nathan Jarrett

Remember the witches all died 300 years before Emilia was born

I would definitely recommend some of the Re:Zero Break Time episodes (2-3 minutes long chibi animations that were coming alongside the show when it was airing), especially for the second part of season 2. For the first half of season 2 is mostly the situation in Sanctuary from Otto's point of view. For second half there are for example episodes from Elsa's and Meili's point of view (explaining Elsa's condition in more detail), point of view of the witches in the trials, or for example Ram and Otto scheming when Subaru is not around.

Appriser

What Subaru attempted was a "dust explosion" using flour and had little to do with gunpowder. Feel free to look it up if you want to

Appriser

as far as I can remember the timing for the death of the witches has not been directly mentioned in the show, all they've got to go on is how long Roswall's been at it

XDrakeX

All we got told in episode 1 is that all of the witches got killed by Satella and then Satella was sealed away cause she was too powerful to kill. I dont think we ever got a timeline or an exact date for when the witches were killed.

XDrakeX

Archi could be Emilias cousin. Cousins also get called "brother" in japanese. So Minerva could also be Emilias aunt.

mohal

They would absolutely love the break time episodes. Such a shame no mod or similar is letting them know about it.

Jazazel

Just to let you know, the most likely situation is Emilia does not equal Satella - it’s not really spoiler territory as the information has been given - but some still has to be revealed, so I won’t specify what it is, but it’s related with the ages of the characters involved. But we also get confirmation via another series - Re Zero Break Time, which is canon and characterises the characters further with 3 minute or so short episodes in a chibi format. In that, we get the aftermath of Emilia and Minervas conversation, after Emilia has left, and Typhon confuses Emilia for ‘Tella’ (Satella), and Minerva confirms that Emilia and Satella are not the same person. It’s obscure, and hard to find for regular fans of the series, but it does explicitly confirm to us that they are not the same person.

ThaDoubleB

There are a lot of things in the novels that were left out of Season 2. And it’s hard to exactly tell what they are going to include down the road and what they aren’t. There is a lot more about Satella in particular that was completely omitted from the season.

Bro I’m dead someone in the crunchyroll comment section said "blue ram is going to be sad when she wakes up and realizes her sister died" 😂

Minervas relationship to Emilia always gave me "favorite auntie" vibes instead of her actually being Emilia’s mother. It just seems to be too on the nose for it to be that. The reunion between her and her actual mother surely would be made a MUCH MUCH bigger deal and she shares non of the features of Minerva either

Morgan Hinault

Nah men, she has : - the same kind of cloths and a "kind face" as stated by Fortuna. - She's (or at least she looks like) a human so the part with Emilia being a demi-elf can be true if Minerva is the mother and the brother of Fortuna (full elf) is the father - The attachment she has for Emilia - Other spoilers in Arc 6 and 7 than coincide with her story As of right now, she has the bigger chance of being Emilia's mother at of the whole cast
