I would not watch the OP, it has some spoilers of the same nature as the first OP. I'd say it's safe to watch it from ep20 onwards. ED has no spoilers.

You have no idea how masterful the writing is for Vinland Saga until you get to season 2! For me the writing of Vinland Saga is on par with AOT! Also I think season 1 is about Askeladd and season 2 is about Thorfinn 🤣

I like Ben's point about Askeladd sometimes speaking as the son of Olaf and here as the son of Lydia. To add to this: in episode 4, when he agreed to a duel with Thors, he spoke as "the son of Olaf" and didn't respect the rules of the duel. But later when Thors was already pierced by arrows and asked Askeladd to withdraw his men, Askeladd agreed "in the name of his ancestor Artorius" - and kept his word.
