"you should never limit fiction to matters of rainbows and butterflies". That's it. If you were one of my favorite reactors before, now you are Number 1 for me. I LOVE how you both analyze things.

floxer

Is it possible to do the show twice a week? ^^ Or two episodes per reaction? Or at least for some special cliffhanger episodes?

GhostPhil

Yeah, the way they are analyzing this already makes this the best reaction to this series. So I can only agree to wanting as many episodes per week as possible. I can't remember anyone even talking about the scene where Rudy convinces his mother. Most people only talk about "bad" scenes, but there are so many little nuances in this series.

I have not read the light novel nor the manga, but this is spoiler free knowledge given to me by my light novel friends. To expand a little on some things that the anime left out: Paul's religion allows for polygamy, while Zenith's does not. That was one of the reasons why she had such a difficult time accepting such a situation. The reason Paul was so easily seduced was because it was during the time when Zenith was pregnant and they couldn't have sex. That along with him being an absolute horn-dog and Lilia's body led to the ease of him being so easily pulled in. Keep doing these great reactions, and please push through past episode 8 since many reactors fall there! I don't think you'll stop but I can only encourage you that it gets better and starts going past that episode. Keep being critical! Don't be scared by large fanbases or a mob of angry fans, Mushoku fans love detailed critics more than mindless enjoyers!

Forrial

This anime is unlike other isekai animes, it has so much potential, not being only 'funny' anime, but also deep with interesting story.

Forrial

Also Give Paul a break :D, who could resist temptation like Lilia

Crusty

People seriously underestimated these two's intelligence by thinking they might drop this series over some uncomfortable themes.

nikum

As a LN reader I'll say MT is pretty deep, not Kola Well deep, but kinda close tbh.

Josh Knoebel

Yeah, no. He's undeniably a scumbag that deserves to burn. "Lilia is attractive" is a disgusting excuse for rape and adultery.

Josh Knoebel

A somewhat glossed over line by Rudy talking about "raising Sylphie to be the perfect woman" is on the same level as Paul's disgustingness, if not worse. He's a 40+ year old man proudly admitting to grooming a child, and lusting after her. Regardless of the age of his new incarnated body, he has the mental development of a middle aged man and is using that to exploit a little girl. Gives a good platform for Rudy to show some growth and character development, but will he actually?

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

i mean she left the door open while she was naked bathing purposely and she also happens to be a 10/10 baddie so saying paul deserves to burn makes me feel like you havent watched the rest of mushoku tensei or you just dislike the series entirely

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

The point of this story is that he is getting a second chance at life meaning he gets too redo his childhood meaning yes, he gets to have childhood romances and crushes and experiences because he didnt get that in the normal world in his real body. How has he exploited Sylphie up to this point? She really likes him and they are close friends with a lot of respect and admiration for each other, he also taught her lots of magic and various things which will help her for the rest of her life, seems like a pretty mutually beneficial relationship and not an exploitive one.

Anders Pike

@Jasmin , fuck no. You can literally see him manipulating her with the idea of him leaving. He knows he's her only friend, and will likely remain that way because of her hair (conveniently something he has no stigma about not being from this world, so he gets to be a "good person" for free on his end), and he's exploiting that to ensure she stays dependent on him. He even resents her at the same time for proving he's not "unique" in terms of his magic. Theirs is a relationship of cultivated dependence and if Paul hadn't forced Rudy away, would have gotten MUCH worse.

Anders Pike

@Jasmine Being tempted to doing a bad thing does not make doing the bad thing okay. Also "she's sexy so she deserves it" is pretty fricking gross reasoning dude.

Radamanthys Wyvern

Can you explain how he was manipulating her? Because the dialog was pretty straightfoward: Rudy: I might leave to learn more magic... Silphy: Noooo, dont leave alone :( Rudy: This pretty girl wants to be with me forever... why should i leave her? F**k the magic, i will stay. Roxy's Letter: I became a better mage, i can't wait to see how much you progressed all this years. Rudy: You know what... maybe i should leave after all to not dissapoint the most important person in my life at this point, but i want to take silphy with me so we wont be separated.

Forrial

What the fuck are you talking about, first of all its only anime so chill out, second is that she seduced Paul in this situation.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

yeah its very clearly not manipulation or an explotive relationship... the dialogue couldnt be more straight forward... not sure where Anders Pike and Josh are coming from or where they get their likes from... i guess there are still a lot of patrons on here really angry that a show they dislike one a reaction poll. are they gonna mald about this masterpiece show every time they upload a reaction? lmfao

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

@Anders My dude you just didn't watch the show lmfao, she literally left the door open in order to seduce paul, she wanted him to fuck her. Wtf are you talking about lol

Night Sterling

@Jasmine Tea Enjoyer I think you’re missing the point that while yes she purposely seduced him, it doesn’t make the fact that he cheated on his wife an ok thing. Thats like saying its a banks fault it got robbed.

rusty warhorse

In the novel, Zenith saw through the truth right away and imediately understood Rudy say those thing to deescalate the situation and to save Lilia, and decided to go with it.

Stephen Rhoades

I think there is some misunderstanding by both sides here. Up to this point I don't think that there is any evidence of Rudeus grooming Sylphie at all. However, I also think that his intentions have started to lean towards the grooming angle near the end of this episode whether he realized the implications of his thoughts or not. It is a problematic line of thought that Rudy has here. It has not lead to problematic actions yet. The closest to that would be his statement of how the job situation would be best for Rudy but not Sylphie. That is where the problematic actions start. It also seems to end there though.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

im not saying its ok that he cheated on his wife, im saying we shouldnt think paul should burn in hell like other patrons on here do

Talon

I'm not sure what people expect Rudy to do, just not have any relationships in his entire life because the ages wouldn't match up? Rudy thought about raising Sylphie but it's not much different from a boy her age fantasizing about marrying her and maybe getting her to be more feminine. Given Rudy's intelligence, if he was the horrible predatory monster people seem to think he was he could easily have abused Sylphie through "playing." Yes, he stripped her that one time but that was entirely innocent, we know that because we could hear his thoughts as an omniscient observer. Rudy truly didn't know and even though it was the first time he had seen a girl naked in either life, he didn't leer or anything, he genuinely felt bad and ashamed. The conversation at the tree was not manipulative, he was just asking his friend what he should do because yes, he is not growing at all magically since Roxie left. If anyone was manipulating anyone it was Sylphie trying to manipulate him into staying.

Forrial

Thats what i am saying, you are clearly crazy if you think otherwise.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

I think cheating on your wife is a sin and yes if you don't repent for your sins before god you will burn in hell, but I believe all people including Paul deserve a chance at redemption, and if you watched just the rest of the first season of Mushoku Tensei you would know Paul is not someone deserving of burning in hell.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

@Talon Exactly. I know its a insane concept for someone to be reincarnated into a different world like this, but if you are gonna put our real world moral values onto this fantasy world you also have to play out in your head how literally ANY human being who actually went through what Rudy did would do if they were reborn into a new life... OF COURSE they would have relationships of all different kinds, including romantic, with people of the same physical age in the new fantasy world. I feel bad for the people who fail to understand this.

TitanMachine

All the heroic things Rudy did for Sylphy were when he thought she was a boy, not for a 'groom this girl' reason. Including when he taught her silent magic. Those were all done out of friendship, but they were the things that make Rudy her savior, mentor, and friend. Later when he gets the idea to groom her to become his ideal woman, that is not lusting after a child's body, its lusting after the woman she will become. Still a bad thing, but not the kind of bad some are saying. Same episode Rudy decides to groom, the author has Rudy removed from Sylphy's life - Making it impossible for him to do the awful thing we were shown he would do.
