Woo! I’m late to this by almost a year, but I’m commenting on this now because of your discussion after the video and the confusion y’all had. And I realize I should save this for when I finish watching all your videos (and also no chance you guys care about this comment bc y’all are done with this show already), but imma say it anyway. Gelus died not because he gave Misa his lifespan, or directly because he killed her stalker. He died because, according to Rem, a Shinigami’s job is to take life away, not to give life and they are not supposed to change what was fated to happen. Rem and Gelus were witnessing Misa’s fated last day of life. And because Gelus was in love with Misa, he killed her stalker, therefore indirectly extending her lifespan. And because he died as a result, Gelus’s lifespan transferred to her. Gelus saved Misa NOT by giving her his lifespan, but by basically delaying her death, even by a moment. His lifespan transferring to her was a consequence, not the cause of his death. I hope that made sense.
