And of course we get the “white background shot” while Thorfinn is by a dying/dead character. Which, of course, we have only seen four times so far in total. -Thors’ death scene -Askeladd’s death scene -When Thorfinn tells Einar that basically he is empty (or rather, his old self died without vengeance) in 2x8 -and now Arnheid

If I was asked in a literature course to pick out one line from this entire season, it would be "Anger begets more anger" because this is an important universal lesson that is applicable even in today's world. Makoto Yukimura is the manga artist who created the story for Vinland Saga. He is anti-violence, and using Vikings in this story was sort of a medium or mechanism for him to tell anti-violence messages to his audience.

anna pointed it out during the full reaction but the fact that thorfinn is remembering Canute's words on the same ep (s1 ep 20 and s2 ep20) about god in heaven looking down on the chaos is one of my favorite llittle gems by the showrunners. Both Askleadd's "protoge's" are coming into their own and resolved to be accomplishing their dreams by their own hands, not waiting for "a hero or a god" :)

Arnheid’s character is honestly one of the most depressing I’ve ever come across. At least for me, there’s nothing more horrible than denying someone the right to their own autonomy and life, and that’s just been Arnheid from the start. Even before becoming a slave she didn’t have a say in how her life turned out. Every single time she tried to live in a way she herself would want… it was ripped from her by men that wanted something else. At no point did she ever have any control over her own life. The only major choice she was even able to make was to give up on living altogether… and even that was mostly forced on her as well. Just devastatingly sad. And the fact that this anime is so grounded makes it even worse, just to know how people have had to suffer in human history to get us to where we are now. At the very least, it helps viewers to understand and appreciate the life we are able to live today. That’s the importance of understanding history and media like this, and I applaud Yukimura for focusing on and caring so much about Arnheid’s character. Many people, just ordinary people in a similar situation, have obviously existed and would have been forgotten if not for other people telling their stories.

I saw your schedule for Vinland Saga this month and I heavily suggest watching episode 22 and 23 together instead of the final 2 episodes together since it flows better

Hey there mods! I'm in agreement with the comment that came before mine, that episodes 22 and 23 should be watched together instead of 23 and 24. Reason being, that episode 23 is the end of the farmland saga arc. Episode 24 serves as an epilogue.

Just saying this again to really make sure they see it but 22 and 23 definitely go really well together and are better as a double-drop than 23-24

So many call backs to season one in this episode. But I love how at the end Lief is seeing Thorfinn become like his father as he walks off to confront Canute.
